well i already have ir on my pc to sync with my 6600 / 7250i & 6510. but i needed to transfer files to my 6600's mmc faster so i wanted to know what exactly to buy and which is faster. i have seen a 8 in 1 card reader / writer for $16 and bluetooth for $45. i am confused with what to get as i need to transfer a 10mb file asap. my friend got this reader writer he says it took only bot 1 min to transfer a 10mb file and i dont think bt is that fast. so plz advise ppl wht to get. thx a lot.

Hi Jesal,
I have both the BT and 8-in-1 card reader (CR). Here's how I use them:

1) Phone backup via PC Suite - BT
2) Other file transfer functions of PC Suite (ie. Image/File transfer) - BT
3) Simple, low quantity, small-size file transfers (ie. ringtones, wallpapers, applications etc.) - BT
4) Syn with MS Outlook Calendar and Contact List - BT
5) Transfer of MP3, Video etc. - CR
6) Backup MMC card to PC - CR
7) Restore MMC card backup in PC to MMC card - CR
8) Initialise MMC card - CR

Might have missed out a few other usage... One thing to consider is for CR, you need to power down the phone, remove the phone battery and then take out MMC card for further action. After that, you will need to go through all the hassel to put the card back into the phone.

For BT, the main problem is sometimes PC or HP acts funny after encountering errors and need to restart (PC or HP) to get a good connection. IN addition, the speed is also not suitable for large file transfers (eg. think 20 to 256 MB)

As for IR... I only use it to transfer simple stuff to lower end non-BT HPs as the speed is terrible. IR also needs alignment of ports during transfer which could be tedious.

Hope the above is useful to your decision-making.

well thks a lot for that detailed info. but see firstly i dont mind removing the card now and then. for pics and videos and themes i use ir. i am happy. so wht i am basically looking out is for moving lets say 10mb of file in the min amount of time. cuz 10mb on irda takes bot 25 mins and thts buggin. so that way thinking that u are only gonna shift huge files wht is better. cr or bt. hope u get wht i mean

so for sure 10 mb file will move fasted with the cr huh? can it be true but 10mb in one min? thts fast. huh.
