Where can I get my 6600 firmware upgraded, other than the Carphone Warehouse?
I'd like to avoid the CPW as I don't like their "hit and miss" approach to whether they can do the upgrade or not (some staff say yes they can, others say no - I'd rather take/send it to somewhere I can trust...)
Where in the world are you?
You didn't say, but presumably by mentioning CPW, you live in the UK (assuming the CPW chain is UK only; if it isn't, you have to be more specific). If so, see this Nokia page about UK customer service:
http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,54548,00.html
If you're from somewhere else, start looking from here:
http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,42096,00.html
And, these links were relatively easy to find by just going to, of all unlikely places, http://www.nokia.com/ and there clicking on "Support" and then under "Phones and Enhancements" clicking on the appropriate region, etc.

Sorry - yes I should have said - sometime's I assume people know where I am from!! Aye I'm in the UK.
Ideally what I was looking for was not necessarily a list of places, but some real world experience of customer service (ie. an outlet I can trust) where I would be happy sending my phone for an upgrade.
If you look around on Nokia's site you will find the details of their postal address for warranty repairs and upgrades. They are based in Nottingham and you don't need any receipts to prove warranty. All you pay for is postage to them and they return it Special Delivery.

Thanks - I found the address and put my phone in a Jiffy bag last night...
Fingers crossed it gets upgraded OK 😊
well if anybody has the latest update they should - when I tried with my 6600 and my usual service point they were not aware of any upgrades. Although 3.49.2 is an Orange version it did fix many of the original bugs and you do not have to have the Orange theme, wallpaper etc so its not like a 'real' Orange badged phone. There may be a newer release by now anyway as I understand there was a Vodafone version out as well.
Let us all know how you get on.

My 6600 also has 3.49.2 (Orange), and I still have an issue with it. They seem to have removed the manual network selection option. This is ok normally, but Iroam abroad and the default network i was getting did not support GPRS.
Strangely, if I put my Voda sim in there and put my Orange sim on my 7650, BOTH phones have the menu option.
Orange say it's a fault, but no upgrade yet.
What about places in the US? 😉 Is Nokia the only one that does it?
Thanks!
