IrDA vs BlueTeeth

Is there much difference between IrDA and Bluetooth (apart from speed) if all i want to do is transfer files back and forth from the 6600.

i.e. can i tranfer pics, sis, sounds and themes with IrDA?

Apart from speed, the main diff will be IrDa need line of sight between the ports and it is short distance between them.
