I've tried transferring files across to my p800(wmv videos, .wad files) and have come across a problem where the file is rejected due to being the wrong type. Is there a way I can get around this?

The P800 doesn't support WMV files, try MP4 or 3GPP, or AVI with SmartMovie.
Try transferring the files to the \document\unfiled folder (drag them straight to the Memory Stick icon). Alternatively use the PC File Manager which lets you transfer any file, anywhere, even to the System folders.
