I have my nokia 6600 now for 4 days and have noticed that she does not always ring. On the second day I changed the default screen saver to the time&date screen saver, she would then ONLY ring if the screensaver was not active, if the screensaver was on, the keyboard would light up and the number would be shown, but she would not ring.
I changed back to the default and she has worked fine, until this morning 😊
I was in the main menu looking around and went back then to the main screen, a few sec's later someone called me and she did not ring, just like above, keyboard lights, number in display but no ring. I then started to ring my self to test more, but she rings every time since then. I'm always using the general profile with a wav as ring tone. I have friends they have the same phone, but older then mine,
they do not have these problems......
Any help ? Any idea's ? Would be really great as being "on call" for work with a phone that does not ring is not good..............
It could possibly be a bug with the early firmware as i have similar problems. When someone rings me sometimes it starts to play the ringtone for a second then goes silent but the lights stay on etc....
Never experienced this before and I had two phones. Is your profile set to "General" or did you customized it?

Have you tried format of phone? Maybe this is only one solution before get to servis
Have not tried to format the phone yet, was keeping that until very last....
I'm using the General profile, I have just changed the ring tone to a .wav file.
Yesterday did it not only not ring when called, it rebooted........

I have reformated my phone several times since I had it and it still ocaisionaly does it.
Have you assigned this General ringtone to a particular contact?
I had a few problems when mixing ringtones between contacts,but as someone has formatted and still the problem is there,its a slim possibilty but worth checking anyway. 😃

I had the same thing happen to me several times in the last few days (although I've had the phone for about two months and never had that problem). The only known changes to my phone was the firmware upgrade performed last week (to version 4.09.1) before the problem started and the change of the active theme from the default to Theme1.
Since you have an earlier version of firmware (with which I had no such problems, although I had other problems, such as spontaneous reboots which have disappeared with the upgrade along with a better battery life), the problem is most likely related to the change of theme. I just changed the theme back to the default and will see how it goes within the next few days.
I've had this too.
It might be due to other applications - games? - not sharing the sound device.
I left a game running in the background and then missed calls.

Its not just the phone that sometimes misses calls, but occasionally the Alarm won't ring and I usually only get a tiny blip of the start-up jingle.
Same firmware as above (3.42.1), anyone had any joy in getting this fixed?

I managed to persistently reproduce the problem (and to a friend's 6600 phone, also). It happens on the first call from a certain group (sharing a common non-default sound) right after the alarm has been stopped. If the caller hangs-up and redials it rings normally thereafter until next morning when the alarm is used again.
Looks like there is something screwy in the sound table manipulation. Some index running off limits and selecting "no sound", i.e., not finding the associated sound file for the caller.
This is a major problem and Nokia should get their act together and fix it. There is nothing worse than a randomly mute phone!!!
(Another friend's report says this problem happens with a twist: instead of no ring, she gets a different ring. Again, this looks like a misbehaved lookup routine in the sound table.)
Try - changing the memory in use from phone to mmc or mmc to phone and reboot. Mine wasn't telling me about messages or calls and I did that and it fixed it. It worked for many other people off AAS as well.
