I'm currently using a nokia 6600. Cool phone. Tried installing a lot of messengers like Agile Msger, IM+. TipicME etc but for some reason they dont seem to work. What I gathered is that they need TCP/GPRS or full internet GPRS.
I'm from India and full GPRS is very expensive. I was wondering if theres any IM program out there that works on WAP-GPRS(thats what I have)
Please lemme kno and yeah, if you can tell me where i can download it from, that would be super.

MSN/Yahoo Messenger over WAP-GPRS

IM+ brings Instant Messaging to the phones which do not support TCP/IP sockets and are not able to connect to the public IMs directly over TCP/IP.
This is how it works: IM+ client connects over WAP protocol to one of IM+ GATE Servers, which establish then a TCP/IP connection to the public IM Server (e.g. ICQ) and acts as a Gateway between the IM+ client on the phone and the public IM server, transforming the data from WAP to the internal protocol of the public IM service and vice versa.
So you should be able to connect using just GPRS WAP.
TipicME is extremely buggy and I've never managed to connect on my 6600.
Agile Msger only connects when I don't use GPRS. It seems to be WAP only, so GPRS WAP should be ok. However on the Agile website they have another product called Agile Pets. Part of the description for that program is
" Agile Pets can generate significant GPRS, WAP and SMS traffic and is a great revenue generator for mobile operators and mobile content and service providers."
So I'm not confident their Messenger program has been optimised to use the minimum amount of bandwidth when they are aiming their programs to please providers with large revenues.
Well i tried Im + and it dint work. Msn kept blinking and then it failed to connect. Maybe i used the wrong version. It was 4 i think. Anyway I'm on orange wap gprs. Any idea what the settings are? maybe i'm doing something wrong with the msn, yahoo settings.
Btw, u kno where i can download a working version, not trial cuz dont get me wrong, i'm aware about the board rules but i'm in india and making $ payments from here is a big problem
