Hi,
I have a new P900 from Vodafone, which I use on a diffent network. I didn't have to unlock it.
When it starts up or shuts down I get a horrible red screen with "How Are You?" written on it.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this?
I tried changing the firmware, using the Sony Ericsson online firmwared upgrade service and after it was done the Vodafone stuff was still there.
This makes me think that it must be in the system folders somewhere and not in the buried invisible stuff.
Any help much appreciated.

I'm almost certain the Vodaphone startup video's will be in the phone's ROM as part of the firmware. If you were able to update the firmware using SE's online service, then that would suggest Vodaphone has approved it's own version of the firmware update, startup video's and all.
Still, it's rather a small price to pay for getting the phone with such a huge discount! And, thanks to the stability of the Symbian operating system, the startup and shutdown video's are not something you need to see all that often.
I must admit that I cannot remember the details, but on the P800 on Orange, the startup video could just be deleted and wasn't in ROM.
I'd be surprised if it's not the same on the P900.
I'll have a look and see if I can find the relevant info and report back.
Oops, perhaps I should have checked first and then posted.
Bassey is more or less right, see this thread on My-Symbian:

Yet another reason not to buy branded phones.
Thanks for you link but I couldn't read it because I couldn't log in.
Any chance you could copy it to here for me?
With thanks,

My Symbian is another forum very much like this one. All you need to do is register (I used the same nickname there as here) and you should be able to.
If you have trouble, PM me and I'll email you a copy of the thread.
