512mb MMC - Phone says "No memory card inserted" :(

13 replies · 12,117 views · Started 23 April 2004

Hi people, I've not had my 6600 for more than a few days, and all was well with the standard 32mb MMC card. I decided an upgrade was in order and purchased a 512mb MMC cardm, however the phone just doesn't recognise it.

I've popped it in the card reader connected to my pc and can save files to it and format it (FAT16) easily, however when I put it back in the phone it's just not recognised.

My firmware version is v4.09.1 - 26/02/04 - NHL-10.

Any ideas how I can get this thing operational? :frown:

Thanks lots,

The card says iConnect.

I purchased it here, and as the seller said it works well with Nokia 6600, and the fact the seller has such a great feedback rating, I was certain it would work.

Are there any measures I can take to solve this?

Thanks

I believe the max size supported for the 6600 is 128mb 😮 .

There may be a way to fool it - but I havn't heard of one. :frown:

No its not 128MB.Just look at the Tested MMC Cards thread and see how many people have successfully used 256 or 512MB MMC's.For the zilionth time, some brands work and some don't.

Perhaps u can try to format using ur Card Reader by using FAT. Then format again using ur phone. Was told by a shop that if cant access then format using PC then Phone but remember don't use FAT32 use FAT.

I tried formatting the card with the reader, and that worked, however when I put it in the phone is either said card corrupted, or no card inserted. When it said card corrupted I had the option to format. So I did (on the phone) and then it asked me to name the card. I entered "6600" however it said that the action couldn't be performed, then continued to tell me that there was no card inserted. Now, even when I put the card in the reader, it tells me that there was a card reading error.

I'm a sad boy now 😞

its not only locked to 128 . after changin from 4 128mb cards i just got a 256mb microsim. works gr8

I bought 2 X 256mb TwinMos MMC and one of them have exactly the same prob. I went back to change and thats what the shop owner told me..perhaps u go and exchange a new one as they provide warranty rite.

hi
i had this same problem.... put the old memory card in the reader and check what it was formatted in by right clicking on the device. you must format the new mmc in the same format or it will not read it.
many thanks
