Weird MMC issue

Something really strange is going on with my SX1 and I can't quite figure how to fix it. All of a sudden, when I turn my phone off and then on again, all the apps loaded on my MMC fail to show up. I can confirm that the MMC is there and being read (via the 'Memory' panel in Extras) but none of my apps show up in the application launcher menu!

To solve it I have to do a software reset (*#7780#). When it restarts the apps are there and everything is fine. Until the next time I shut my phone off. Then, when I turn it on, it's the same problem all over again. Anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Am I shutting off and turning on too quickly maybe?

It's really frustrating since I am losing my settings every time.. :?

Weird. After it happens, can you write anything to the MMC (save a picture from the camera, or something)? Note, that if there's something wrong with the MMC or its handling, this could corrupt contents/the file system on it.

If you do an MMC backup before your power off, and when you power on, can you restore the backup? That should, at least, get back the settings. 😉

Do you have any other MMC cards? Does it happen with those too, or just this one? If only one, then the problem is with that MMC, in all likelihood. If it happens with all MMCs, then the problem is more likely to be in the phone.

Are you running the latest SX1 firmware release (whatever that is)?

Yes, after it happens I can still take a picture and save it to the MMC.

I am not running the latest firmware.. I'm one behind (I'm on 6 while the latest is 7). Looking at the list of changes between the 2 I know that backup to the MMC would improve, but that still doesn't explain my issue. (On a side note, I haven't upgraded b/c I lost the stupid USB cable.. anyone know where I can buy a spare?)

Any further suggestions??? :frown:

I'm using firmware 12, really annoy, c: is too small for all apps.

Help needed.

p.s. after "switch-mmc" function, your apps will back to top-menu, but I have to move them to categories again and again after restart phone.

I recently bought a Pretec MMC (256 Meg) card and faced with the same problem. (my old MMC, a 64 Meg Sandisk works fine)
