6600 wav ringtone problem

hi, i have two 44,100 Hz - 16bit - Mono wavs on my 6600, both of them play fine in the sound recorder. but when i have them set as a ringtone neither of them work, i just get a default ringing sound.

is there a limit to the size a ringtone can be? these are 2.40mb and 3.40mb, and they both sound great when the phone is playing them, just can't figure out why they don't work as ringtones!

accidently worked it out in the pub 😉

there are two defult folders in the 'sound clips' folder called 'digital sounds' and 'tones'. i had placed the wavs in the 'tones' folder, moving them to the 'digital sounds' folder has solved the problem. they now play as ringtones no problem 😃

If you save them as 8 bit instead of 16 they will be louder too! (Although this depends on the tone of the wav). 😃

In theory you lose quality when lowered to 8 bit but quality is what the speaker isnt,so it doesnt matter.

can to tell me from where i can find the best wav editor
i want to make louder my wav files

Wav editors come with most cd burning software, are you sure you havnt got one already?

Nero 6 is now common place and has a good wav editor built in.

please give me proper site name or url from which i can download the wav editor

I thought that it was exactly what I did.

Anyway, as for some reason or another you still seem to have some difficulties, let's do it step by step:

Direct your browser first to: http://www.sourceforge.net/

In the "Search" box on the left, type: audacity

Hit the "Search" button.

On the search results page select the link "Audacity (exact match)" ( or go directly to http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/ ).

Note: This is where I pointed you to earlier, and all you have to do is to hit "Download" on that page and you have the app. However...

On that page see the section/table that is titled "Latest file releases".

In that table see the first line (for audacity, version 1.2.0).

Click on "Download" ( or directly on this: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=6235&package_id=6294&release_id=220784 ).
