How to Format Memory Card from phone

6 replies · 85,153 views · Started 05 May 2004

I was formatting my memory card throug PC Suite, and looks like the formatting was not completed, and now my phone gives an error on startup that the card is corrupt.

Is there any way i can format the card through the phone

Load filemanager
press menu, goto memory card, format memory card

Or

if you have a usb mmc on your pc you could use windows to format the card BUT it must be in fat format and not fat32

I have a similar problem although my problem is with the 32mb memory that came with the phone as opposed to memory I added.

I have tried to format using the phone and also using USB on my PC. The memory card is not detected on the phone and the card reader on the pc lights up for a few seconds before going out and the card is undetected.

I think the card is f**ked, any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem...no solution yet 😮(

Woohoo!!!! I sorted it!

Here's what I did (I could have been lucky of course)

Full re-install without card inserted (including File manager)

At first it wouldn't format beyond 30%, so out of desperation, so next time...

It did the usual complete lock-up at 30% so BEFORE removing the battery to reboot, I removed the memory card THEN the battery. Replaced the battery, then then the card. It seems to then do a greater percentage at a time (51%, then 75%) and eventually works its way up to 99% - Freezes again, but after a re-boot the disk is once again accessable.

Hope that works for someone out there.

ADDITIONAL: Doh! I was tempted despite it display the card once more....I just wanted to format it proper (not happy with 99%)....back to square one! So 12% > card out > battery out > (within seconds) battery in > card in, full boot and format again - up to 50, then 75 100% Woohoo!!! it's all good....

good luck peeps

Dear Someone,

i hope you can help me. I have a 6600 as well a 9210. i removed the memory card from the 6600 to put into the 9210, it doesnt detect it at all so that I can format it to make it work. I have a memory card reader and through command prompt I was able to format it. The 9210 still doesnt recognise its existence. Is there anything else I can do to make it detect it ??
