I MAY have accidentally put my phone in the washing machine....

I'm guessing it's completely dead and that the only reason the keypad lights are flashing when i try and turn it on is because it's in a bad state...
I doubt it, and i know this sounds like a ridiculous question, but does anyone think there's a possibility it might be repairable? :frown: :frown: :frown:

A similar thing happened to a mate of mine,he took the phone apart and cleaned all the components with de ironised water and re assembled and it worked fine.

Technology has moved on a bit since then tho,and i suspect the parts now are more fragile but if its knackered anyway you may as well give it a go.
Very slim chance tho. 😃

Possible. But highly unlikey. And if the warranty is held with nokia directly they wont do anything about that as water damage isnt covered. I've heard stories of phones working after going in the wash, but the screen suffers in all of them 😞

I read somewhere that when HPs are soaked in water, dun turn the phone on....

Remove covers and batteries, leave them to dry for a day or two ,maybe use hair dryer to help....

When the set is totally dry, then try to turn it on and it may work again.

Hope this helps as a last resort thingy.....

😉

it may be possible to get the phone working again, but it may not work for too long, as the connectors inside get oxydised when they hit water, and after a few days/weeks, the phone might stop working - at least partially.

for best results, get a good set of small screwdrivers, take it apart, disconnect contacts, and wipe every one with tissues with Contact Spray on them.

Also, putting the phone in a fridge also works wonders, as the fridge removes all humidity - esp. those that circulate air and are frostless.

All great points there.

It's true what they say, if you passed your phone through the washing machine, or any electronic device, DONT turn it on.

Let it dry/air out for a few days. I'd say 48 hours min. THEN try it. 😊

But your best bet is again, not turning it on for 48 hours, and making sure you wipe all the contacts.

The best solution yet.. don't forget your phone in your pocket, it's not THAT easy, even with my older tiny 3390.

One one drunken ,about a year ago, Norwich night, as there isn't much to that Fine City, I accidentally dropped my 3xxx into the gutter while answering a call in the rain. The front flew off, the back flew off, and the thing kept vibrating and ringing (this is in a gutter filled w/ rain while it's raining)....so I pick it up (the key cover thing was still on)...answer it and start talking on basically the guts of my phone. I didn't give it much thought, but now I realize how resilient some of the Noks can be I'd say you have a good chance (this is supposed to be encouragement btw).
I'd take the back cover, mmc, battery, and sim out and let it sit a couple days. If you have a way to test those (mmc reader, other phone, etc) you might want to try that. If it's still in a bad way you can make sure you battery is charged (I'm sure you can find someone w/ a similar phone or charger) and try the reset sequence..it MAY just work. I really hope your phone mends w/o you going to too much trouble.
Good Luck,
Let those of us paranoid enough to cut palm screen protectors for their phones know how it turns out

this happerned to a mate of mine, he took it to a shop they told him to take off the covers and take out the battery and put it in an airing cupbord over night. in the morning it worked fine.
