Has anyone had any success using AvantGo with their Nokia 6600? I have successfully loaded the application on the phone, but there doesn't seem to be any option to sync the data via my laptop IR port.
The application wants to connect via GPRS - which kinda defeats the purpose. Any feedback appreciated - I have also asked AvantGo.
Cheers

AvantGo is designed to sync directly with the server over the cellular network, not with a PC or through a PC. The purpose of that is to allow you to sync your news to your phone regardless of where you are, and then read them at your leisure.
I am thinking about getting this for my phone, but I thought that you could use a pc based program to sync your chosen data before, say, that you left your house etc. so that you can save your data allowance on your tarif, also you can update whilst on the move.

They should have included both features. In the UK where GPRS is 2+ a Mb synching over bluetooth with your pc would have been an excellent option. The programs largely useless to me as it is 😞
And while I'm at it when are UK networks going to stop being greedy bastards and make GPRS flat rate or affordable? And they wonder why uptake is so low.
On AvantGo Web site there is a beta version for Symbian but the 6600 is not in the list of supported phones.
Anyhow, I installed it on my 6600, follow the procedure to register on the Avantgo web site (seems thye want to track us ...) and start "Modem Sync".
IP/GPRS connection OK but then get stuck on "starting Synchronisation"
I suspect here a problem on the AvantGo server side, any hints welcome.

Real shame there isn't a feature that allows you to sync through the PC, like you'd on a Palm or a Pocket PC.
It not many bytes to update a few pages though if you drop pictures and deep links.

Have you set up your account properly at AvantGo?
