still a memory question..

11 replies · 2,630 views · Started 20 September 2002

i was checking my memory just now and i wonder why all my stuff instaled is about 1500kb and the phone keeps telling me that i have 2700kb used...

i try to check for things that maybe weren't in the memory description, like sounds recorded, but the amazing thing was when i entered the c:/system/mail... i found files that i had already erased still there. And consuming memory.

There are a lot of folders in the mail folder, so i couldnt check them all.

I would like to ask you all, if there's some "temp" folder which we could from time to time delete, in order to gain some space.

This memory thing is very annoying... without the possibility of expand memory this phone is dead, because, i know.,... it's not a pda, it's just a phone... 😞

but then, everyday appears some new interesting software (like the videos..) and you obviously want to have it, but then...

well you know what i'm saying.... so if you please had some similar memory problems, tell me what to do please.

Thanks in advance

yes I observed that too
just folders and folders which considering they were just in the storage/apps space, coz thats what the C: is
I was wondering if they could be deleted too

there needs to bea comprehensive FAQ on freeing up memory
hell if ya not the most technically minded person most ppl will probably fill up there phone with all the sent messages folder, ya let that build up and it chews the memory.

I noticed that a few days ago, but I didn't want to delete anything unless it was important.

Also when I was using Real One player, I downloaded and sent a 500kb clip to my phone, when I took Real One off my phone it just took the Player off and left the clip on. Without programs that you can browse your C: / D: / Z: drives with I wouldn't have noticed that it was even installed. I just assumed that it would have deleted with Real One.

that's exactly how i found that the files are kept in the memory some how. and of course they are eating memory, because i don't think that i have so many apps that now i only have about 1,5Mb free...

yep mine too

first i use around 2500kb but then i checked it myself that u just uses 1500kb and then i deleted akk my games and the phone still shows that i uses 1400kb, it suppose to be just 600kb

so how to fix this

so you meant that after we count all our files manually then add 400kb on top of that ??

if i do that yes i got the correct result as my phone shown

 😃

The OS and programs that come with the phone take up more than 400kb

C: 4.292 MB (User Space, Although we don't get the full 4.2 MB)
D: 454.144 KB
Z: 15.728 MB (Rom Drive)

Z: Drive is where the vast majority of space is taken up, but you can't delete things of it for obvious reasons.
