PC Suite 2.3.1: Synchronisation of calendar stopped working

4 replies · 3,074 views · Started 12 May 2004

I'm using PC Suite 2003 2.3.1 and Outlook 2000 to sync all my notes, calendar entries, contacts and tasks.

All used to work well until recently, when I noticed that syncing the calendar stopped working: entries I make on the phone are not reflected in Outlook and vice versa. A full synchronisation doesn't help either, in fact, it doesn't take place at all: the sync looks very much like a regular synchronisation rather than a full one.

Does anyone observe the same issue?

I'm using Windows 2000 with all the latest WindowsUpdate patches installed. My non-branded P900 uses the latest firmware.

Could this be related to the last backup, which I restored after the firmware upgrade to R4B03? This was the latest major change to my setup - apart from Windows patches that is.

Thanks
Andreas

I have exactly the same configuration except that I use WinXP. And synch works.

Hmm...any idea what this could be? I've uninstalled and re-installed the PC Suite already, with no effect.

Could be a corrpution of the database, either in Outlook or the P900. You might like to try;

1/ Back up the phone.
2/ Format the internal memory (so wiping out all contacts, notes, calendar etc).
3/ Do a forced full synch from Outlook to phone

If that doesn't work (i.e. it's not a corrput database on the phone)

1/ Restore that last backup to the phone
2/ Do a complete Archive from outlook (clearing outlook but maintaining a copy on the hard disk "Just in case"😉.
3/ Do a forced full synch from Phone to Outlook

Obviously, if that doesn't work, you'll have to re-import the archive into Outlook to get everything back.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your replies.

Bassey, a reset of the phone to factory settings, followed by a full synchronisation seems to have done the trick.

I wonder what happened. Maybe one of the (not-so-many) apps I've installed caused a problem? I'm using Handy Day 2004, Handy Dates, Handy Safe, Opera 6.2 (just discovered there's a 6.3 version on the Opera website, BTW) and Salling Clicker.

Or maybe the last restore after the firmware upgrade overwrote some (system) library it wasn't supposed to overwrite?

I'll guess I'll never know.
