i have been having trouble recently installing a video recorder on my 7650.
i was told that the firmware could need updating.
at the moment its v5.06 DATE: 02-06-03
does my 7650 need updating?
if yes can i just do it over the net, download and install or do i have to take it somewhere.
i live in kingswood, surrey UK.
so any1 der know where i have to go? this would help ALOT.

I think you have the latest firmware version.For firmware updates check you local Nokia Service Centre.
There's nothing newer than 5.06 for the 7650 to my awareness.
What/which video recorder and from where (URL) are you trying to install?
What, exactly, does "having trouble" mean in your case? (As we haven't seen you or your phone when you try, it is a bit hard to anyone figure out what, exactly, is going wrong, if you don't say it.)
i got the video recorder from noia.com. and sent to my phone via bluetooth.
when installing i get the following error message:
'security error, unable to install'
when i go to manager in the phone and lok up the details, its says
'problem: root certifictate not found'

Have you, perhaps, deleted (with, e.g., an app like FExplorer or otherwise) some required files? The last message seems to indicate either a missing or wrong root certificate; those are used to, e.g., verify installation file's digital signatures.
If that's not the case, you may not have an installation file for the 7650 in the first place.
Where, exactly, from "noia.com" (or was it nokia.com) did you download it?
That is, please, post the exact/complete URL to the page from which you downloaded it from (so that we can be sure that it is, indeed, intended for the 7650 that you downloaded).
i download from teh software page for the nokia 7650 on nokia.com.

Hmmm... The file is correct. Have you changed any certificate settings in Settings -> Security -> Certif. management?
Check that the Nokia Content Signing cert has trust settings that allows [Symbian] app installation.
yup.i have tried it with all the certif in there and have tried deletin them aswell.
nothing!
