Wat does the sw do?

Control Freak is Windows File Manager that incorporates several other applets into one seamless application. You get an Explorer like file manager, a full-featured email client, an FTP client, a zip file manager, a cab file manager, a powerful file finder, and an expanded control panel. It also has an Address Bar, The Command Line, which starts were Explorer's Address Bar leaves off.

Mail Call
Mail Call is a full-featured email client supporting the SMTP Internet email protocol. It has support for HTML, plain text, and full web pages. Supports multiple mail accounts and has a Remote Mailbox for getting a quick peek of what is waiting for you. And, of course, you can send and receive binary file attachments.

FTP It
FTP It is a full-featured FTP client allowing you to log on to remote FTP servers to upload or download files. Because it is integrated with the file manager you have support for drag and drop or copy and paste file transfers.

Zipster and Cabaret
These two applets allow you to manage zip and cab files. Compress a single file or several folders to clean up clutter or get files ready for email. Both Zipster and Cabaret allow you to have several files open at once. They allow drag and drop or copy and paste file compression or extraction. Control Freak also comes with a small zip and cab file utility called Zippy for use with Windows Explorer and My Computer. You can add menus to Explorer's context menus so Zippy becomes integrated with Windows Explorer for expanded zip and cab file management.

Lost & Found
Not only is Lost & Found a powerful file finder but the Lost & Found window can be used as holding area for an unrelated group of files you want to perform a common task on. You can drag and drop or copy and paste files into the Lost & Found window. Once there you can perform any normal file management duties on the files.

Vamp, i believe Max is referring to this post announcing ControlFreak by mtvoid.com.

Landru, i doubt your Windows file manager is also a Series 60 audio remote control with a spectrum analyser...

Oh and Max, yes it really does work 😊

It sounds like your phone already has a Bluetooth connection open (eg PC Suite?). Since your phone can only have one connection you need to close the other connection first. You can probably do this using the device that started the connection or by going to your phone's Bluetooth application (normally in the Connectivity folder) and switch Bluetooth off and back on again.

Also you might have noticed that Bluetooth connections take a little while to close, so for example, if you start making a connection to another device and then cancel it, it takes a little while (normally a few seconds) for the connection to actually be cancelled. You can see whether the connection is really closed by looking at the Bluetooth indicator in the 'phone application' (just press the red key to jump to the phone application). If it looks like this (o) there is still a connection active. Hold the Application key and use the task swither to switch back to ControlFreak.

I hope this helps. You can also email us if you are still having problems connecting.

I have installed the trial version and it's not only that it does not work but i cann't see how it can work on Nokia 6600. I don't know about other phones but there only way to establish a serial connection to Nokia 6600 is to initiate a connection from your pc and wait for the phone to call back. Thus if I specify the client COM port on my PC in the winamp plugin, it will initiate the conenction but would not be able to communicate because the phone calls back to the server com port and that where communication has to go through. If I secify the server com port in the winamp plugin, then winamp cannot initiate a connection, Even if I initiate a connectioin from the phone side, the winamp would not use the server com port giving an error message "port is used by another application." Am I missing something?

I'm having the exact same problem as antim, I've tried everything I can think of and read every bit of info I could find, anyone have any solutions or suggestions?

I'll try and clear some things up about Bluetooth serial connections and Windows. First off, the 6600 and all other S60 smartphones allow connections either from the phone to the PC or from the PC to the phone. The Nokia PC suite happens to make connections from the PC to the phone but that doesn't mean that's the only way.

So how does this work? Well the BT software assigns different virtual COM ports to incoming and outgoing connections. That way an application that initiates a connection to the phone just connects to the outgoing serial port and the BT software realises it needs to start a BT connection for that serial port. If an application connects to the incoming serial port however, no BT connection is initiated (this is how ControlFreak works). Since the PC is not responsible for setting up the connection all it does is open the serial port. Subsequent reads on the port will not return any data until an actual BT connection is established.

So basically the connect in the Winamp plugin config window should just be opening the serial port, not causing any BT operations! That way you can have the plugin always connected and not have an unwanted BT connection active. When you choose Connect from within the phone app, it creates the actual BT connection between the phone and PC. If the plugin was already connected at this stage (it doesn't need to be, you can start it after the phone connection) then suddenly the ongoing read operation in the plugin will return with data and everything is up and running.

Btw, if you get "Serial port already in use by another application" when trying to connect the Winamp plugin to the Bluetooth virtual serial port, you should check that no other software is running that is using that port. The most common reason for this error is when Nokia PC Suite (mRouter) is running in the background and is listening on ports it doesn't need.

I hope this helps,
Trent

Thanks for your help mtvoid!
I unchecked the port I was using on PC Suite, I scanned the ports on the Winamp Controlfreak plug-in config and selected the same port that PC Suite had been using. Then I checked connected at startup, hit connect, hit apply and ok. Then I started up Controlfreak, hit connect, searched for devices, found my PC and hit connect. It found it right away and within a couple seconds went from Connecting to Connected. Then the Winamp playlist and all the options became available and I went to work trying everything out!
I was so impressed with it that I went right to the website and bought it! Thanks for all your help and this great product mtvoid!

I'm trying the latest ControlFreak on my Nokia 6620. But a couple of questions.
Is the Bluetooth virtual serial port hardware or software? Do I have to purchase a bluetooth serial port to interface with phone? If I do, is the software only good to a certain distance range from the PC (300 feet) or does it come thru the internet? I'm interested in using the PC remote even though I would like to listen to internet radio thru the winamp. Does anyone know of other PC remote software that works on Nokia 6620 thru the internet that is available. Thanks.

How can i check my email and use the internet using control freak?

quick question how do i get this thing to run in full screen on the mtvoid website it says thers options to activate fullscreen but i cant find them any help?
