there are many n-gage user had got "white-screen" error after installing chinese support software.
"white-screen" is a error that n-gage can not boot up,and the screen standing White....
and normal user can not mend it by self...
do you have some similar experience in this problem? thanks...

Well,there are couple of ways to fix a WSOD(white screen of death).Go to a local Nokia Service Centre and let them flash new firmware or if you are lucky to start the device in safe mode and then do a hard reset.
Never seen it on my N-Gage, which has been in constant, daily use for a very, very long time (it is one of the first commercial units).
It seems i jinxed it.Mine is one of the first commercial units also and today while trying to read a new message i got loads of system errors resulting in a non bootable device.This is the second time it has happned to me in 6 months.
WSOD will be a serious problem FOR ME, if it happens...
you konw, n-gage is not released in china mainland.
i buy it from hongkong. so i don't if local nokia service center can deal with my NG.
how to start the device in safe mode ? please....

I was unable to start it in safe mode,so my last opion is NSC.You can start the device in safe mode by pressing and holding the pencil key right after powering on the device.
Never had it on my N-Gage, i have it a month.
well... i've had my n-gage about 6 months now... and it's my second one. the first one went back cos of the white screen thing, and none of the nokia service centres around here were trained for the n-gage (and still weren't last month). now, the problem i've just got again (this is the second time this hass happened to me now), is not enough memory to perform operation. i can't open sttuff to delete stuff to free up memory, cos there's not enough memory to open the app's ! ! ! the only thing i can do is that key combination to reset the n-gage to factory default, unless someone knows another way of saving it? if not, what's that thing that i type, *# something... ?
Have you tried pressing and holding the menu button in order to close applications running in the background?The hard reset code is *#7370#
there's nothing running. only messaging, which i'm trying to delete message from. there's 380kb worth of messages when i do the memory details thing in Manager for apps. i dont understand whats takin up so much memory.

now i get those totals to be 428kb memory used.. so any idea what could be takin up all the memory???
update...
after finally being able to delete some messages, and some calendar entries, i have 8kb used for calendar, and 394kb for messages.... and free memory is 334B...
how is it that i delete stuff, and memory usage increases? that's totally messed up

now my n-gage just wont get to standby mode. it's not even WSOD exactly...
i turn it on, it shows memory full. in the back i can see it wants my pincode.
i type in my pincode, hit okay, and it accepts... then tells me everything's failed... eventually shows something that says "Device..." in the back, but memory full is still displayed so i cant see it. i press and hold the button to power down, and it says device startup failed. contact retailer, or osmethin like that... can't quite catch it as it jumps to the standby mode screen with the time... but then shuts off
!! sucks
sooo.... lil more explanation of safe mode please 😊 what should i see, how long do i press the pencil key, when should i press it.. etc... thanks
If you can reach the Pin Code dialog the safe mode worked,unfortunately,it seems that safe mode won't do you any good.I advise you to take your N-Gage to the neares NSC for repair.
Bought my N-GAGE in May, 2004 (Austria - Provider ONE)
3 weeks later it got the so called "WSOD" - no way to regain access to the phone
-> no safe mode
-> no hard reset
brought it to a NSC - > Firmware Update to V 4.03 / 26-11-2003 / NEM-4
It is now running stable
I dont remember to have installed any language support but a lot of other "tools"
the pin code request wasnt safe mode.... tryin safe mode just kept rebooting the n-gage... :|
i got it flashed, same firmware now as mentioned above... and it wont let me fill up the memory. it gets so low that it wont receive messages and lets u know there's not enough memory (the previous version didnt). it doesnt let you fill it up beyond 20kb free space any more.... it keeps saying memory full, close some applications, where as before it was memory low/full, delete some data....
guess i'll not be breaking this one any more 😊

i have got one N-Gage for repairing in device startup failed condition. I did "Format user area" with UFS-3 it works, format User area ok. but when i switch on the phone again after format user area. The phone was in the same condition. i tryed it more then 10 times. But when i tryed to boot it without simcard it reaches the stage " insert sim card".. What may be the problem. please help me.
i have a probelm where i van start the n-gage but i does not promote me to enter my sim code?? before i some kind of systems error, and then it switched off, now i cannot turn it on agian.
I have tried the safe mode start but i with no luck, ANy advise..???
