Ringtone, Nokia 6600 + OS X

Ok, just got my phone, searched the forum and found out only wav files can be set as ringtones, got to find a mp3 to wav file editor for OS X now.
Also what software is out there to enable me to put the wav file into the phone, seem a bit stuck there!
I have searched the forum but can't seem to find any answers.
Thanks

You use OS X so just use iTunes to convert stuff onto Wav or if you have QT Pro.
I have used Bluetooth on my Mac to send them to my phone.
Today I got LaCie card reader and managed to copy my MMC card memory to Mac.
My next step will be then to get a 128 Meg card to Nokia 6600 😊

The only problem I encountered when using bluetooth and OS X to transfer mp3 and wav files is that they end up in your inbox. I got myself a bit of freeware called Fexplorer so I could shunt files around in the memory or to and from the MMC.

BTW.. ebuyer.com 256mb MMC about 35. Works fine in my 6600, takes a little while to format though..

Hey Version1.1, that freeware program Fexplorer, thats a windoze app only isn't it, I can't seem to find a OS X version!

There is a FExplorer that is a freeware Nokia app at

Although the wav files end up in your inbox you can move them to your MMC card,
that's what I did and also deleted the unnecessary Nokia video adds from the card.
Today I got myself the LaCie 8-1 card reader for mere 35 and transfered the whole 32 Meg card to Mac. Now I just need to get that 128 meg card and.... 😊

Cheers

OK, got fexplorer installed, have made a wav file (2.26mb) and sent it to phone via blutooth, comes through into inbox have saved file, used fexplorer to find saved file on phone, have now tried to copy and paste file onto MMC in folder sounds/digital, but does not appear in folder, any suggestions, again!! Also i've just noticed on fexplorer that drive Z which I assume is the MMC has a red circle with a slash through it, like a no entry sign, I guess this means its locked, is it, How do I unlock it then? Oh well I sussed it, god knows how, here's the ringtone in if anyone is interested:
File size to big, oh well
Cheers

You dont need to use a file manager for this,

Just click on the file in the inbox, press "options" and then "save" you will then be asked where you want to save it? mmc or phone/gallery/sounds or images etc.

Drive Z: is the phones memory for all the default programs etc,and all the files in it are read only and cannot be edited or deleted.

C: Is the phone memory for storage
E: Is Mmc

😃

Sadly it only likes moving from the inbox to my folders and back again. If it is bigger than the space left on your internal memory (ie you cant get too copies of it into 6mb) then you need fexplorer

I didnt say move the file,i said save it,any add on apps/images etc are best to be saved to mmc (leaving the internal memory free for contacts/calender/sms/mms etc) so the 6mb internal memory is irrelevent as a 32mb or more mmc is plenty for many apps etc.

but the wav files can only be saved to the internal memory from the voice recorder so if you dont have enough space on your internal memory for the message in your inbox and the saved copy of the file then you have to move it...

You have lost me now :?

What exactly are you doing with the voice recorder????????????????

opening the wav file!...

how else can you use and save wav files?

Ok,

Sorry, for a moment there i had visions of you making ringtones by recording them with the voice recorder lol. 😃

Go to messaging/options/settings/other and switch the "Memory in use" to mmc then you will have more room to store these files. 😊

thank you indeed that saves me a lot of hassle

Hey eltion,

i've set the save setting as your previous post states, thing is I have sent a theme file via bluetooth, its in the inbox but can't move it to the mmc or open it, its in zip format by the way.
Your knowledge is being prised from you again, hey!!!

zipman crashed and caused me nothing but trouble. It was even worse with the optional extensions. Nice idea, did what it said, but it errored too much for my liking. May give it a shot in the next version update. Anyone seen anything else that will do that trick?
