Who's sending you a text ?

Hi

I've found that 80% of text messages are not picking up the name of the person sending it - despite them being in contacts.

I've checked to see if their number is in twice - under different contacts - as this would cause it - but all are fine.If you call them from the text message, or they call you, the number and name pops up fine, so that really rules out duplicate entries.

The only vaugly related app is FSCaller, which works fine.

Any ideas ??

Is there a more current version ?

hi, I had exactly the same problem and all you need to do is first change all your mobile numbers to the international format (+447976... instead of 07976 for example) then go to your contacts, options and down to SIM directory. Then delete all the numbers in your sim. The phone automatically stores them on your sim when you first put them in, then gets confused cos it's trying to read the number from two memories at once! Dumb, I know. But it works. Just make sure you've got all your numbers on your phone memory first though!!! 😊

He said delete them from the sim, not copy them to it, as the phone stores them there sometimes for some reason.

OK - some problems with this solution.

I notice that a few numbers are stored in both SIM and Phone memories - with slightly different names, but some of these do work - i.e. their (phone) names appear on the text list, and some don't.
This inconsistency is repeated for some entries on the phone memory only.

In addition, this does not seem to be affecting the phone book for incoming calls - the OS seems to be using the Phone memory only

The Nokia system recognises numbers only by the last 7 digits, so why is the +44 is required ? Try it - If you dial the last 7 digits of a number in memory , the name will pop up - despite the fact that the number isn't long enough.

Before I begin changing all my contact to a full international code, I should point out that this could be caused by the number of contacts in the phone (currently 912), but as there is loads of memory available (527kb used, 1428kb free), and this is why I changed from the 7650 - as it died when ever trying to access the Phone Book.

Any feed back before I begin getting RSI typing +44???.......

Cheers
