I have had the same thing happen to me. I am trying to work out what I do before the problem occurs. I have found that turning the phone off and on again fixes the problem. It is quite annoying. It happens about once a day.
I haven't found the need to format the MMC card though. My card is an NCP 128MB MMC.
Try restarting your phone (off then on again) and see if that works. I would die if I had to format my MMC (and lose games, utilities, docs, mp3s, . . . . ). Good Luck!

Music player doesn't work anymore, not unless I remove the Multimedia Memory Card (MMC) or insert a game-MMC! It (Music player) used to work, until I copied some songs from my CD Walkman to my N-Gage directly using the supplied cable... After copying the 4th song, Music player decided that it didn't want to copy anymore songs or playback any songs (as detailed above)! I'm using a 64MB (genuine) Nokia MMC.
Its ok!
Im using the 512mb PQI, I get that problem.. during strange times. so dont worry.
1 out 3 times when i used the player it happens..
this is what i do. First, used the button.. to listen to MP3... then if that fails.. use the menu mode to listen to your mp3s ... . menu>media>music .. and if that fails...
make sure you dont have any other programs running... the player seem to not boot properly when you have other things running .. like the radio...
And if that fails..
Just restart the phone...
The music app is kinda hit or miss.

Well you guys are lucky- I've tried all sorts of stuff and the only thing that seems to get Music player going is by removing the MMC or by inserting a game-MMC...
