Yeah its a pain,but cant be done,

This app leaves the light on permanantly which kills the battery time obviously,but can be handy for some..

u have to open torch app and then minmize it
ur back light will be on and if u want to off that light just close the app torch.

there is a paid appliaction i.e psiloc extended profile pro
it not jus only put the light on
but do many more things

For the matter of fact, eprofile doesn't also allow to setup the basics - backlight timeout default, while setting "always on" backlight implicitly disables screen saver & autolock keypad features - it really looks very stupid.
