Nokia really needs N-gage 2 to compete around in the wireless gaming market in 2005. the only advantage that N-gage got is the phone feature. if PSP was supposed to be a handheld like N-gage. then N-gage is useless~
and do you think N-gage is dying now slowly?
Nope not fying - it's just that people need to realise it's a phone that plays really good games, not a dedicated games machine. Plus MP3. Plus Radio. PLus PDA. I don;t thin Nokia are playing to it's strengths.
I'm prtetty sure NG2 is being developed, just as NGQD was in development even at the launch of the original NG. I'm also sure it;ll stay backwards compatible.
Anyway it was obvious to nokia that they cannot compete in the pure handheld market. their target is different. People at nokia are a bunch of geniuses that have made their brand the first when no one knew about it. 5 years ago nobody knew about nokia, and there it is now. you can depend on them, they'll get the ngage to be profitable. playstation needed some time (and final fantasy 7), ngage will need some time (although the question is which is their final fantasy 7).
Everyone is speaking about the death of N-gage, failure in QD, ...
I think Nokia made one serious mistake with N-gage, that it shouldnt advertise it as the ultimate gamepad ready to compete with psp and gboy.
It is a multifunctional tool like a PDA + gamepad +phone. If you want the best from each, buy separately a psp, a phone and a pda and come out to $700 at least.
If you are looking for all these things in one, with reasonable price, than N-gage is your answer, with all its failures and problems.
And one more thing: It is childish to argue about which gadget is the best and why will my XY *uck your YX till you really dont understand the market + technology behind it.

What if Nokia want to surpass PSP?

Sometimes, its easier to make a piece of hardware than you promote and advertise it...besides Nokia really needs some third parties to create games for the N-gage. I am glad we got Sega , EA , EA sports, ubi along with the N-gage.
but that's not enough.. Nokia should push it harder NOW!
Have you guys even looked at the specs of the PSP? Its going to be a hard technology to beat, Nokia don't have the same amount of money that sony has to throw around for starters.
Also, the PSP won't come standard with a mobile phone, but there will be an additional upgrade available that will provide mobile phone capability. Don't believe me have a look at the reports from E3 and a couple of the PSP roadmaps. They detail mobile phones, GPS and a whole lot more.
I don't think the N-Gage is dying, I just got mine and I'm very happy with it. Sure Nokia kinda over hyped it but you get that. Its still going strong after its been released, its a pretty good attempt at the handheld market.
You can not really trust what Sony says, they have lied in the past (cough ps2 like toy story). i hope the Psp will live up to expectations, but i have my doubts.
