Has anyone seen any ports of other games like the Doom port? It'd be really cool to get a Duke 3d port, or Rise of the Triad, or even Wolfenstein 3d!
Anyone seen any of these, or heard of anyone working on ports?

Hope I'm not being bothersome, but I couldnt get duke3d to work on picodrive.. do you know why by chance it wouldn't work? After I click on the file (when I'm loading the rom) it just dumps back to the menu and says "No ROM loaded".
I'd really appreciate any help with this!
Try the latest version of the emu.

I have just begun with Duke and Doom ports. For Duke Nukem, try JonoF's Duke 3d port called JFDuke3D. But there are no Duke ports where you can decently mouse aim! :frown:
For doom i reccomend the jDoom port. I have tries others, but think this is the best! With optional mouse aiming, 3d monsters, 3d looks. 😃 I think its the best made port EVER!
And last, but not least, the Wolf3d port called NewWolf. No mouse aiming, but thats not nessicary for wolf3d. Altough it plays real good with mouse. And there is an optional option. Like 3d stuff and hi-res textures.
Just go to google and type the name of the port. And you WILL succeed! :icon14:
That about wraps it all..

Are you talking about Symbian ports?WildPalm's Doom port is quite good.I can't find any differences from the PC version. As for Doom and Wolf3D,good luck!
If you need hosting for your Symbian projects, let me know.Maybe we can setup something on www.symbiandiaries.com

I have to disagree on this one Ghosty. Having played many hours of Doom on my old P800 using the excellent EDoom port by Peter Van Sebille, the S60 version was utterly disappointing to me. For one it isn't the full version, and you can't use your own WADs in the S60 version. On the P800 I played through almost the entire Ultimate Doom (full version) and Doom II. The Px00 version also has a pop up virtual keyboard which can be utilised for cheats.
On the S60 version I'm also having problems with the sound disappearing when I go to Settings and change the level. And I can't seem to pick up new weapons either, so I'm stuck with the stupid pistol. The speed of the game is good though.
So, DaDosDude, I really hope you go ahead and make a decent Doom port for S60! 😊
The current offering from WildPalm is far to limited/crippled and a bit buggy IMO.

What phone are you using? If you're using a 3650, the problem is that it doesn't have enough RAM to load a ROM the size of Duke 3D.

From what I've read it looks to be a windows port of Duke3d, and not a phone port. It'd be excellent if he did do a port for the phone though. 😊
Also, I am running the latest version of Picodrive as far as I know (.12). If you can help me out anymore, I'd greatly appreciate it. 😊

I am using a 3650.. Does that mean I wont be able to run Duke 3D? Other games seem to run great on there (Sonic, Cyborg Justice..). Please excuse my lack of knowledge of my own phone, but does it have to load the entire ROM into memory before you can play it? If so, how much internal memory does the 3650 have, so that way I know the limit of the games I can play...
I appreciate the help, btw!

Yes, sorry you wont.

It's not about storage memory, but RAM - the memory used to run applications. Unfortunately the 3650 has the least amount of available, free RAM of all the Symbian phones. The 3650 only has like 2.4MB free while other Symbian phones like N-Gage, SX1, 6600, 7610 etc. have about 10-11MB free.
Usually you wont be able to execute any ROM above 1MB on the 3650, but in some cases a 2MB ROM could also work, but nothing above that. I believe the Duke 3D ROM is over 3MB in size...
