How do I move data on MMC?

5 replies · 2,285 views · Started 23 September 2002

I bought a 128mb card today. I used a USB reader to copy from my old 64mb, all went ok until I put the 128 card back in my phone. All the shorcuts on the desktop have dissapeared and all messages have vanished. Any clues?

Your shortcuts and messages are on the C drive.
Perhaps you moved them without knowing.

They should be in C/system/favourites.

If you don't find them there try Ctrl/F.
You can search with a keyword off a message and try to find them.
If you know in what directory they are you can put them back were they belong.

Thanks very much for your help. Do you think that they will be the only problems that I will encounter with this card to card copy?

I dont know what reader you bought.
I got my reader for a week ago, and I needed 4 days to get it to work.
While transfering data it made corrupt directory's and they blocked everything else.

These corrupted file's off 1.5 GB!!! (on a 64MB card...) couldn't be removed, replaced or whatever.
So new format and try again, and so on for 4 day's.
And I did formatted it in the reader as FAT format, so that should be ok.

I installed every application I want, configured it the way i want, and made backup's.
These are stored on my Pc.
So in case off problems it is going to take me about 20 minutes to put it back on trail.

Thabks again for that. Yes impatience on my behalf has made it all go Pete Tong. 😮 Time for a fresh start I think. Backup takes for ever on the serial port so I will probably format the 128 card and copy all the sis files on there. Anyway, I always learn more things about the 9210 everytime I do a fresh start (waffle waffle)

That is what I did.
Copy all the sis files to the MMC.
Works great and much faster. (at least for installing the files 😉 )

I only had problems with the All Memorycard data.sis and the All Nokia data.sis.

While installing these two files from the memorycard I got an error with the message "in use", ore something like that.

So I installed these two files from my PC, memory file first. (to avoid problems)

On default your 9210 doesn't remove sis files after installing them.
If you want them to be removed goto Shift/CTRL/C.
Inst/remove.
Preferences/Remove Sis file after use (or something like that)

I got it in dutch so its a bit different...
