I am particularly referring to Nokia 6600.
I just bought a new nokia 6600 1 week ago and yesterday there was this stuck pixel, a discolored pixel in my display.
I am nothing but sooooooooo frostrated about Nokia's attitude regarding this matter.
I adore them so much thats why I let my hard earned money to be invested on them.
The saddest part is that even some users of nokia 6600 are experiencing this kind of problem.
If you think your 6600 don't have a spot today, it could appear next week, month or year. This what happened to me.
Since from the start I knew that the phone that I purchased has no warranty because it came from finland directly.
I didn't think twice in purchasing it because i trust nokia. But it seems for me nokia is now smiling against me.
Hope my unit or display will be replaced by a new one. Pls email me if you are from nokia at .
With much regret,
Patrick
You really don't want your email up like that. Have people PM you instead. I sympathize with your problem. Unfortunately stuck pixels are a way of life. Look at a lot of laptop manufacturers warranties (five or less pixels will not warrant a replacement etc). Unfortunately the 6600 has a hardcovered screen (which I still cover w/ a cut palm screen protector). This stops you from 'massaging' the pixel away (which does occasionally work and is recommended by some manufacturers). Other than that we're stuck w/ percussive maintenance or you could try using torch (the application) to heat the screen and keep switching colors to see if it unsticks the pixel. The display technology is actually pretty poor if you compare it to some of the advanced transflexive displays. You shouldn't have to have the backlight on to see the screen in a lighted environment and the brighter it is the brighter the screen should be w/o glare. I hate to look at the new models and see the only options for large screens being UIQ's because I really like the size of the screen on the 6600. Hopefully Nokia gets it straight and builds AND revises this device to be the 6xxx leader standard model. And what's up with the alarm being worse than my 51xx? 😉
Now if you're really upset about it and you can't get it warrantied and you're going to pay for a new screen it MAY be worth following the takeapart instructions (they're linked somewhere around here) and seeing if you can get to the top of the screen to give it a lil rub down.
Hope everything gets sorted for you.
hi!
I just went to NOKIA service center and had my phone check. According to the technician of Nokia, their head office already come up with a MEMO regarding this concern. And the memo indicates that having stuck and dead pixel in 6600 is normal and should not be coz of an alarm.
Nokia is much aware about the problem on their 6600 units. So, since NOKIA admitted that they have this kind of problem, all people who own a 6600 right now is destined to suffer the same problem.
If you still don't have it right now, it will happen soon.
Nokia should focus on this and develop a TFT screen that will replace all defective units around and it should be free.

Thats a bit strong to suggest that EVERYONE will suffer this problem, there are many things in life that turn out to be defective, thats why consumer rights demand guarantees.
However,i have 2 dead pixels (1 after a week, and one i noticed recently, had the phone nearly a year now) so i understand your anger. 😡
