isync Nokia 7610

Hi there,

Seems to be the right place to ask this: I want to sync my (brand new) Nokia 7610 with an Apple computer using isync. I updated (or created) the following files in an obvious way according to the previous and useful comments (thanks everybody!) in this thread:

- /System/Library/CoreServices/SyncServer.app/Contents/Resources/SupportedBluetoothDevices/SymbianConduit_phones.plist

- /System/Library/SyncServices/SymbianConduit.bundle/Contents/Resources/SymbianConduit_phones.plist (not sure this one was useful)

- /System/Library/SyncServices/SymbianConduit.bundle/Contents/Resources/SupportedDevicesInfo

- /System/Library/SyncServices/SymbianConduit.bundle/Contents/Resources/7610.tiff

Then, I still get the

"iSync was unable to connect to caillau7610. Try syncing again."

message, even after adding the entry

<key>kSymbianConduitModelKey</key>
<string>7610</string>

in the /Library/Application Support/SyncService/437/SymbianConduitDefaults.plist file (the phone is unknown, otherwise...).

I guess the file is still incomplete. Can anyone send me his (one for 6600 or any other Symbian would do) SymbianConduitDefaults.plist file?

Any other idea?

Thanks.

I've tryed the same thing and after pairing the 7610 again iSync see the device, but syncronization is still not working.

sorry if this has been repeated, but could you guys post exactly what you've done? maybe i can help.

Hi, I did all the usual stuff as indicated in my previous message (roughly, everything
that allows a Nokia 6600 to be synced properly): doesn't work ("Can't connect to
device" error message).

Guess there is some specificity with the new 7610. Will have to wait for Apple to
sort this out. If you have any clue post on this thread and copy to

mailto:[email protected]

Best.

All the series 60 phones up to the 6600 were using something called mrouter for synching. If I am not mistaken, the 7610 does not use mrouter, but synchML. I think Apple might have added mrouter support to iSynch. It's kinda funny, since all other phones that use iSynch use SynchML (or so I think).

Let's hope Apple provides support soon for the new Nokia series 60 phones.

I think you guys may be having a problem because the 7610 no longer supports the serial profile, which is what the other nokias use for syncing via mrouter..
The 7610 uses the USB link instead and will no longer connect like the other Nokias did - even on a PC

Of course syncing via bluetooth is possible. However on the pc, the nokia software only supports three bluetooth stacks (widcomm, xp sp2-builtin and digianswer) and will start the connection to the phone by itself. I am not sure which profile it uses or if there is a special syncml-bluetooth-profile, but surely it will at some point be possible to support this mechanism on the mac. I wonder what mechanism the new nokia 9500 communicator will use as it also supports syncml and even is able to sync email.

Can you please help where can download the DUK-2 (USB) Driver for Windows XP Profession Edtion??? Please Do help me....
