Hi, im about to buy this phone but i have afew questions about it before:
- Is there a piece of plastic on xpress cover thats protects camera lens like on 7250 ?
- I'm assuming covers are interchangeable?? if so why are there only 2 colors available and under accesories on nokia site there are no xpress covers unlike all other phones?
- For apps , why are s60 apps specific to the phone ?? are 6600 apps all compatible with 7610?
- why the big uproar over mono/stereo? frankly it sounds almost the same. anyways no purist is going to listen to music on a cell phone . in my case, i just got myself an ipod mini , NOW THATS AN MP3 PLAYER!
that about all for the moment... thanks to anybody who can answer.....
1) I belive that the covers do not cover the camera lens, which could be a bad thing 😞
2) The covers are interchangable. Out of the box covers are either Black/red, Black/brown or White/Gold. More will become available as "style packs" which contain themes for the phone to suit the cover. Aftermaket covers will also become available Im sure.
3) I think that most 6600 apps will work with 7610, although Im not sure so dont quote me
4) Im not concered about mono/stero, although I am concered about the sample rate. Can it deal with 44khz? Or is it lower like 6600? Does someone know? Thanks.

with the 4.09 firmware?

whats crippled about bluetooth on 6600? anyways logically the 7610 will have different firmware cause not aat all the same insides ( camera, no ir etc...)

Sending of sis, jar, midi files via BT is not alowed. Its Nokia's copy protection method so the 7610 will most likely be affected like most new Nokia phones

ntn, hijacking a thread is not nice but anyhow,an excelent quality video is arround 1Mb/Minute.
Search the forum.
I am pretty sure there are pleny of programs that let you send any file over bluetooth.
about the video, which encoder is best (mobiclip , smartmovie etc...) ?
is there a tutorial somewhere explaining how to use it?
back to the main subject: I currently have a 7250 which is great except one small problem: it has 5mb memory but only 100k or so is available for apps . for example , I can't load an entire webpage in webviewer . here is the related faq from webviewer site:
"Why do I get "Low memory" errors? My device has lots of memory!
While displaying content, WebViewer, EmailViewer, GotMailViewer, and HotViewer all use heap memory, which is often separate from the memory that a device has for storage. Nokia Series 40 phones such as the Nokia 7210 and 7250 provide only 200K of heap memory, and so "Low memory" errors are unfortunately common on these devices. To reduce the occurrence of "Low memory" errors, you may disable images in the "Settings" menu. "
So obviously my question is : can the same problem occur on 7610 or is all of the memory availble to apps?

Which will only work with other devices that have the same program installed so the communication between different operatig systems/platform(Series 60,Series 40) is lost.

Like i said, use the search feature: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/search.php? You will find loads of posts which cover your query.

Very unlikely. The 7610 has 16MB of RAM 10 of which is available after bootup and has a heap size of 8MB i believe so it will be enough for most of the apps out there.
