As the topic says.. is it possible to have an mp3 as a ringtone that is played through the loudspeaker? Is the quality good?
Can you have mp3s as ringtone?
I don't think so.
yes you can but you must first convert it to wav or amr (you cant put whole song cause too big)...
i believe you can also use the mp3 directly with ultraMP3 but im not sure how.
You can listen to MP3s using a third party MP3 Player but they can't be used as a ringtone. The N-Gage can use MP3 as a ringtone but i still preffer WAV.
Hi!..
Sorry GhostDog... but ...
YES... 7610 can use MP3 like a RINGTONE...
see the review here and read...
" ... Other ring tone formats include MP3, WAV, True tone and 48 chords polyphonic MIDI ... " ...

cya!
😎
Thanks for clearing that up AEFOX.On Nokia.com listed under ringtones are only true and polyphonic while on forum.nokia.com under supported formats MP3 is included so i was a bit confused.
Can anyone with the actual device confirm this?
Hi!
Yes, you can use MP3 as Ring Tone. I have the 7610 from last Saturday and my Ring Tone is an MP3.
Sorry for my poor english.
Best Regards.
Cool! How is the sound quality? Is it crystal clear or is it like when playing a .wav on the 7650? (Horrible)
it sounds better than 7650 wav, and bit lower than N-Gage MP3 ring tones.
RGD.
so let me get this straight
it plays mp3 ringtones but has no biult in mp3 player nor stereo output??
what a retarded phone
Hi!
7610 plays MP3 and AAC (and comes with Nokia Audio Manager) with built in Real One Player. I test a few MP3 encoded 44khz in stereo.
I can't know if 7610 has an stereo output because not a compatible headset release yet.
RGD.
i've been using the phone for a month or so and yes, you can set an mp3 as a ringtone.
what you can do is either use the full song or use some audio editing software like soundforge to edit only the segment that you want.
the 7610 comes with the PC suite and the data cable. use the "transfer music" option in the PC suite to transfer the audio clip.
as for it being stereo, i'm not really too sure about that. but from what i recall, it's not.
and it has an inbuilt mp3 player.
LOL, this thread is quite amusing. Yes the 7610 wil play MP3s! Heres what I do. I use cool edit 2000 to cut a song to the part I want to use as a ringtone. Then I convert it to mono and boost the volume by 300%. Sounds far better than the amr ringtones.

SEARCH ON GOOGLE. U SHOULD FIND EASILY. OR TRY WWW.DOWNLOAD.COM.
My pleasure jazzy1! Sorry vicky, I would've but its been discontinued. See, it used to be here: www.syntrillium.com but it got bought by adobe. I think you can still find cached downloads of it via google. I found this: http://www.5star-shareware.com/Music/AudioComposers/cool-edit.html give it a try. Its too bad, as the 2000 version (not the pro) is the best quick editor for sound files I have used. I guess thats why Adobe bought it, but now its in bloated Adobe Audacity, which is useless as cakewalk is far better for full blown audio editing. As, technically, Cool Edit 2000 is becomming abandonware, since Adobe is only using the pro version in Audacity, I think it should soon be avalible for free.
what about the 6600?!?

I think U can't, u can convert Mp3 to wav via Mp3 Cutter Or Audacity.and then u can use them as ringtones.
