1) How do I get it to play midi files transferred from the pc as ringtones? I've transferred them to the "Tones" folder of the phone's internal memory and the phone was able to play them fine. But when I select them as ringtones the phone simply seems to ignore that. Instead it just goes ahead and plays the Nokia Tune. What's causing this? Are my songs too long for dumb little thing? 😃
2) How can I make the e-mail program check for new messages regularly automatically?
3) How do I customize the contents of the "Go to" folder?
4) The vibrator is very noisy. It makes a loud buzzing sound - unlike my old Nokia 3330's which was completely silent. Is there anything to do about this?
Thanks in advance, 😉
Anders
1: Put the MIDI files in Nokia/Sounds/Digital folder to use them as ring tines.
2: No automatic email polling feature in the phone. Try apps like Active Mail by Cibenix.
3: The application has to have built-in support for being placed in the "Go to" folder. All don't.
4: Turn it off is the only thing you can do to it, if you don't like it.
Great 😊 Doesn't seem very logical, though (given that you're able to select them from the ringtones list regardless of which folder they're placed in).
You don't suppose there's a free alternative to Active Mail?
$20 seems a little steep just for automatic e-mail checking. 😮
Also, I have a file in my Inbox that won't go away. It's an MP3 Gravity installation file transferred to the phone via Bluetooth. The phone's software won't let me delete it (says the file is in use), and I can't seem to locate the file when using FExplorer. How is this solved? :frown:
Regarding the ringtone issue in my experience some midi files work properly and some dont its a mixed bag. For example i have midi tones Blink 182 - Stockholm Syndrome and Sum 41 - The Hell song.
When i set SS as the default ringtone the nokia tune plays regardless. When i set THS it works fine every time.
Bit strange but it didnt really phase me too much.
I think you have already but did you try deleting that file using application manager and have you tried holding down menu key to see if that application really is open/in use. Sorry about noobish responses, but sometimes simplest solution is the best one 😊

Yeah, I'm afraid I've already tried that. It ain't on the App. Manager lidt, and I'm sure that the file is physically present as it can be installed (and I have done so to make sure). This, however, doesn't let me delete the file. 😞
In which folder (and drive) are Inbox items stored? Maybe I could get there using FExplorer and delete the file somehow?
Oh, and another thing...
I haven't been able to find a "smiley" feature when sending text messages. Some of my friends' mobiles (like the S/E Z200) have an options to insert smileys into messages. They even enhance the smiley by making it look something like this: 😊 Can this not be done on the 6600? Is it possible that the only way to insert smileys is by storing a few in templates?
And yet another thing...
Isn't there any way to transfer files to the 6600 without them being converted in PC Suite? Namely mp3's and avi's. I have an mp3 player program on the phone, but I can't transfer any mp3's because of PCSuite. :P
If you can't use the find feature (fully case sensitive) w/ fexplorer go to yourdrive>system>mail (i'm doing this by memory). The first folder should be the inbox (it's cryptic as can be). Just start going through. You're file will be in a subfolder. You can find it and you will be able to delete it. Next version of Fexplorer is supposed to decrypt the psychotic mail folder 😊
OK, I finally managed to find the file and delete it using FExplorer, thus freeing up 200 KB internal memory. 😃 Thanks.
It was deeply hidden in some subfolder two or three notches down.
So, my final question remains: How to transfer files to the 6600 and avoid them being converted to stupid formats? :?

XP: Right click on file, send > to bluetooth> to nokia 6600.
OS X: Menu Extra>send file> select device
Suite: Click the setting or file whatever tab (third thing down I think from memory) and UNCLICK all the conversions. Then it won't change anything it sends using the sour/suite.
Thanks for your help, this forum r0x 😊
yeh the right click option works a treat. You could also use a mmc reader and just transfer it directly to mmc. Of course if you want unconverted mp3's you need a much bigger mmc than 32mg which is what i currently have. Send file is easiest and cheapest way though if you already have a bluetooth adapter
