I am new to this and hope you guys can help me out. I tried to upgrade my P900 to the latest firmare version 162004/3 (right now I have 162003/13). Unfortunatelly the upgrade function on the SE site is not working for me. Are there alternative ways for downloading the latest firmware?

I also have problems upgrading. The site always tells me something like my operator doesn't support the service.
I just successfully upgraded my P900 to 162003/11 R5A09. You have to get connected to the Internet DIRECTLY to do the upgrade. If your PC is behind a firewall, it doesn't work.

is the R5 number the organiser you are running? if so, does your date/time work correctly for reminders?
its a bit pants if it cant work through a firewall. why do we have to actually be connected to do the upgrade anyway? it seems a bit silly. surely we should be able to just download the upgrade s/w and run it on ours PCs? that what i did for siemens ones. worked much better 😞
Presumably because if you downloaded the update you would, potentially, have access to the source code that makes up the firmware. People are always backwards engineering programs to their source code now. It's simply an Intellectual Property protection issue.
You can use the update system behind a firewall, I've done it a few times. I use a firewall from www.smoothwall.org and I guarantee you it works.
I have to unplug the charger to do it tho, the phone must be fully charged and the charger either not connected to the dock station, or unplugged from the wall. This is because the phone needs to be powered off at some point, and with power running to the dock, the phone reboots by itself, causing a fail.
I had a lot of trouble with the SE updater service initially, if it failed, it would not start again. My work around for this (a little heavy handed, I admit) was to delete all cookies and temp internet files, and delete the folder the updater makes in c:\program files, make everything fresh at it were - and try again.
Works for me, your milleage may vary.
If your get this error saying something about incompatible with your phone or whatever, then I guess you just cannot update, it's not a problem with the updater tho.

I just can't believe the ammount of soul destroying hassle I and everybody has to put up with being "unpaid bug testers", I for one am fed up with it, so i made some rules.
1. Always check Google for forums to said TECH for major bugs "before buying"
(unless your a programing guru that enjoys bug testing)
2. Wait 3 months for price to drop below half the price it was to start with.
and for some firmware to be released.

I just found a P900 for �134 sim free but i still wont waste my money on one until they iron out the email and power on off issues loosing data.
Are you using Internet Explorer ? I got it to work by downloading and using Opera (with Java). www.opera.com
