Hi folks
So I installed mobipocket on my PC and the reader on my (new) 6600.
I can read the default ebook which got transferred.
I can update my subscribed newspapers using the pc application
I can use nokia pc suite to manually transfer each news directory across to the library directory on my 6600 and i can then read the news. Great.
But there must be an easier way to do this. I used to use mobipocket on my psion 5, where the news got automatically copied across when i synchronised. I guess i was expecting the same thing to happen when i synchronised using nokia pc suite, but it doesn't seem to.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
Did you contact the Technical Support ?
We have patch for the 6600 synchronization (the device was on the market after the Mobipocket Reader 4.8 was released). It may solve your issue.

Does that patch fix the squares I see in US phones instead of ...'s or .'s because of the text encoding?
v4.8 build 413

The patch is on the PC side for the eNews synchronization.
The problem you have with the characters is maybe due to the font you are using.
You can also have a look at this page which explains you how to read/publish non western contents.

Thats encouraging. I searched the mobipocket website to try to download a 6600 patch bit couldn't find any.
I've submitted a tech support request and am waiting with baited breath.
Thanks

I know it's due to the characters and text encoding I'm using because I don't have a choice for encodings. I get alp or latin, fixed sizes, and language selection. I see big squares instead of elipses or - or .'s. These are the same encoding problems I see if I have my phone set to US-ASCII in readM, but not if I set it to ISSO or Windows, or UTF-7 IIRC (not 8). I've been trying to get a resolution on this for a while. This is with PAID SECURE mobipocket content, not anything I made. I can't change the encodings (or see a way to) w/ mobipocket on my 6600. I think the US version TMO is just missing a lot of default files/API's that people expect it to have. It doesn't matter if I set the phone to auto or english, I still get the squares. The files should be western content. I see that there isn't any way to add fonts I guess, any way to get the encoding right here? Even the library and cid does it by default.
Thanks.
