Hello there!

I have an A925 too. The window IS an IR port. In the control panel you can configure the phone to use IR for "A925 Desktop Suite" for eksample. It is done in the "Desktop Suite" menu. (Control Panel -> Connections -> Desktop Suite)

To activate the IR port, click "IR port..." in the same menu as above.

Just tested all this on my own phone... Seemes to work! 😊

Have just done that but no IR connection on my phone. All I have is Serial,Bluetooth, and USB in that order under the desktop suite menu.

Why would anyone want to use IR? It is slow, relies on line of site and with BT dongles available for less than 15, I would have thought completely redundant.

Hmm.. In that case I would also exspect it to be that the IR is somehow disabled by the firmware... Wierd! It did work on my phone!

Sorry that I couldn't help you! Try asking in the store or writing motorola...

btw... I like to use the IR connection, since I don't have Blue Tooth on my laptop, and I don't like to drag around cables for everything when traveling.. But of couse I only use it when my USB cable is out of reach...

I was looking into activating the IR because I found software for using IR on the home equipment such as TV, Video, DVD, Stereo, and so on. That way you have only one unit near you to use.

Had to get my phone booted with the IR software and they found out that the phone was faulty. Got it replaced for free with all the bells and whistles this time and works great. Now the external memory card is corrupt because it was only working on the faulty phone. Rang Three Australia and they are replacing this as well. Thanks three for help the small guys for a change. 🙄

Revision 1 moto A920 11.xx.xx firmware = no bluetooth no Infra red and the phone is application locked, meaning you can only install "3" approved s/ware

Revision 2 moto A920 21.xx.xx firmware (also known as the A925 revision 1 sware) = Bluetooth enabled but still no infra red phone is now application unlocked allowing you to install what ever you like !!! (the first thing you should install is the P800 productid .sis file this is used to fool s/ware into think your phone is a P800 and therefore unlocks a massive library of apps for you)

Revision 3 moto A920 30.xx.xx firmware (also known as the A925 revision 2 sware) this was never officially available for the A920 as it had been discontinued by the time this f/ware was released. The myth that this firmware was incompatible with the A920 was perpatrated my "3" in a bid to get people to purchase an A925 !!! another "3" myth being that the ir window on the A920 is a blank and thea there is no IR sensor behind it !!! this latest s/ware finally brings IR to both the A920 and the A925 and also solves an issue with screeching + a couple of other reliability and battery life issues

The 30.XX.XX sware is widely available as a 25MB download (obviously not officially) if your brave enough (or stupid enough like me) you can flash your A920 to latest firmware your self !!

I am currently downloading the firmware to take my A920 from 2nd version to 3rd and hopefully improve it ! Any words of wisdom for me ?

Many thanks. 😎
