my 6600 saving pics, opening applications, saving videos , opening 32MMC galleries---all of these happened when my MMC memory (32 mb)'s 45% (only) were consumed. i mean if i saved like 13mb memory and like 17 mb left.. the whole phones functions deccelerates.. that ok? :? theres a lot of memory left for God's sake!..
6600 slows down in saving pictures and others

If I transfer to my phone memory I get full speed, to my PQI 256 I get about half. Opening things in the gallery is also slower. I don't have a way to compare the ammount of space use w/ yours, but it shouldn't be much slower. I don't THINK that mmc is some strange linear read since it's FAT 32 formatted. You're probably just seeing the normal slow speed of MMC (Why nokia didn't use SD or SD & MMC is beyond me). Make sure you don't have a lot of other apps running (hold down menu key). You could (hypothetical) be seeing some fragmentation. I think it might be better to just leave all the junk and not delete than be rigorous about it, but then I don't know how symbian handles the Filesystem. I do know we should expect better (spooling from mem to card on transfers) sooner or later.
thanx so much jasonT.. where will our phone be with you! 😊 ty.. last qxn.. is there a program like a defragmenter or smthing like the one we use in our pc? 😊

I don't know, I'm not even sure if it happens that way. I'm hesitant to try defraging w/ defrag since , although the filesystem is the same, windows doesn't necessarily know what can and can't be moved, but youi can backup and restore your memory card so if you did something like that it would be defragmented (or should be) by default. Formatting and copying everything over in a linear way is the same as optimizing and defragmenting. I really wouldn't worry about the speed slow down on a 32 that much, if it really bugs you there may be something wrong, but you can always save all your files and use the phone memory instead.
aye... thanx so much.. you rock!!! this site rocks! 😊
