Query about games

Howdy,

I have recently begun hunting down games for my 6600 but have encoutered problems and would appreciate any help that you can provide.

An example is pacman. I downloaded the zipped file, and when I opened it there were 8 files - one MF file, several CLASS files and others.

However, as I simply drag and drop all programs directly onto the MMC, I do not know how to get it to work on the phone.

Is this program designed to work on the 6600?

Dunno what's up w/ that. Sounds like you got some unpacked java or something. Someone else can probably help you with that, but if you check out Zedge.no you can get some free java games that aren't too bad (and they're better than the ones that are being sold some places). Not warez. That sites tight I know it's someone who's a member here too.

Make sure the .zip is .jar (rename it back if it has been changed) and send it to your phone and let the installer handle it from there. That is, the .jar files are .zip format files, but you are not supposed to unpack them manually.

I did try to change the file extension to .jar but it will not allow me to do so.

I have also noticed that some of the files are in fact zipped. When openned, some contain only a .sis file, while others contain a long list of files as listed in my original post.

Any further suggestions on how to change the file extension? When I right click on the file, it ask me to nominate the program with which I will be openning it - what am I suppossed to select?

By the way, thanks for the link to zedge! Excellent site!!!

What is the "it" that will not allow you to change the extension?

If "it" happens to be Windows, make the file, then in Explorer use Tools > Folder Options... > View > uncheck "Hide extensions for known filetypes"

Then rename the file.

It only gets worse and worse.....

Thanks for the advice. When I changed the pc settings, i was able to change the file extension and most of the apps installed without error.

However, a couple just freeze while loading. So, I tried to remove them using app. manager. For some reason, the message "App. closed ChildInstaller" comes up, and the phone freezes.

What does this mean?

How can I remove these apps without formatting the MMC - they are installed only on the MMC.

Thanks.

Just found the files on the MMC and deleted them. However, they are still listed in the apps manager program.

When I try and delete them from there, I still get the error message.

Any idea on how to delete them form the app list?

Please ignore my request for help here. I searched the forums for 'childinstaller' (as I should have initially) and found other posts regarding this issue.

Thanks.
