I bought a 6600 last summer from UK, using now in USA. Nokia USA tech suport will not offer any support for it. Anyone else experienced this?

Did you stay on the line and complete the survey then talk to a customer service rep? To be honest, Nokia USA reps can't even tell you the correct firmware version for your phone. You'd probably do better shipping it back to the UK (turn around for service for TMO-USA w/ nokia is 21 days).
If you call them and don't specifically say where you bought it (it shouldn't matter), does it help?
