The speed of IR? Should be...?

I think that there's something wrong in my infrared. I have Nokia 3650 and IR-device in my computer. When I'm copying (with PcSuiteFor3650 to phone) a file for example 2,8 MB mp3-file it takes 7 min 30 sec!!! When I'm copying 50MB it takes...
:hahaha: :banghead:

The setting in Windows's Control Panel/Wireless Link/Hardware/IrDA Settings is 115200.

And when I'm playing a multiplayer game in Snake EX via IR (with 6600) it's very slow. When playing with settings "Type:Normal, Difficulty:The most difficult" singleplayer-game the worm is of course very fast. But when playing with the same settings multiplayer game via IR it is so slow that the worm moves about once in a second!!!
Via BT Snake EX works perfect.

And more problems: When I'm trying to copy an image from phone to phone (3650 & 6600) via Ir it says something that means ERROR and Failed and could not send the image. So I can't send anything via Ir. But via BT... works perfect.

SO, how fast should IR be when sending files? How much does it take when copying for example mp3 files? Help me---???

Thanks.

hmm .. guess u have a problem with the phones IR .. for comp ur ir settings would be ..
Transreceiver type : sigmatel 4000
turn around time : 1.0 (default)
speed : 4000000 (default)

still if ur IR aint workin i suggest u take it to ur nokia service center n get it checked .. assuming ur under warranty ...
and y would you play snake via IR ? bluetoothz best 😉 any wayz .. an mp3 file of size 3MB would take approx 4-5 mins

cheerz

115,200 bits per second (bps) is 14,400 bytes per second = 14.0625KB (kilobytes) per second

2.8MB (megabyte) is 2,867.2KB.

If you could transfer at full 115,200bps speed, it means sending your 2.8MB file takes about 204 seconds (2,867.2 / 14.0625) or slightly less than 3.5 minutes.

In that sense 7.5 minutes sonds a bit slow.

But, on the other hand, I'm not absolutely sure the infrared interface works at 115,200bps when receiving.

Actually, I don't know if the given infrared speed is speed in one direction or combined speed in both directions (in which case what you observe would be about right).

There are also other factors slowing down things on the phone side (it has less memory, has to write to slow flash memory, etc.).

Is the speed the same when you send your 2.8MB file over infrared to the 3650 and the 6600 from your PC? I.e., any differences between them that way?

What's the speed for sending the 2.8MB file from one phone to the other? Any difference between sending from 6600 to 3650 or vice versa (from 3650 to 6600)?

I copied the same 2,8 MB file from the computer to 6600 via IR and... :s: ...it took 11 minutes!!! Fantastic. I love this kind of problems. 😃

Then I copied the same file again from 3650 to 6600: took 12.5 minutes.. 😡

All the time slower... Well...

The memory situation: there's Kingston's 128Mb MMC in 3650 and in 6600 there's the 32Mb MMC which came with the phone.
-in 3650: 60 MB free
-6600's MMC has only Try&Buy:s, I'm not sure about free memory, have to check...

An only explanation is that those phones don't support 115200 bps, only something like 0.5 MB per minute. (3MB :icon2: approx. 6 min.)

But the Snake EX -problem... :hahaha: :bawling:
I have to try that again...

I tried Snake EX again via IR. But nothing new. When I play Snake EX via IR it should be called Slug EX!!! 😃

I hope that there's a bug in the Snake EX but it's hard to believe...

Does anybody have any problems with Snake EX's multiplayer game via IR (3650 and 6600) ???

If not it looks like I have take both phones to the service center. Unbelievable.

:?

Snake EX should work without any problems via IR???

And copying 3MB file to the phone takes at least 7 minutes???

Help.
Thanks.

i just got a 3650 the other day and i immideately tested it with my friends IR adapter.Works perfectly.Just needed the appropriate drivers(for the adapter) in WinXP and i used the XP's built in program. It transfered 900 KB in around 1.5-2 min, I still haven't tried playing snake, but if i do i'll post here

If about 1MB takes 2 minutes - 3MB takes about 6 minutes.

Sounds believable.

But the Snake EX...?
