Deciding to purchase p900

I'd really like some advice on the p 900.
I've been a Pocket PC user for years, and most recently switched to the Samsung i 600 Smart phone. I loved my old Ipaq Pocket PC. I love month at a view where I can see Icons the correspond to my Outlook 2003 categories. (I had purchased Agenda Fusion for my Pocket PC). For example, I created a category called "out of town", which on Pocket pc, I added a suitcase icon, so that when I look at the month view, I know when I am in town or out of town.

On the Samsung i600, its not like Pocket PC at all... I really love the phone, but not the PDA part of it.

I've been seeing so much on the Ericsson P900, and, the problem is, I'm not familiar with the Symbian operating system.

All I want is a perfect PDA/Phone... is this it?

I want to be able to view my contacts by either their NAMES or the company name. Is that possible?

Can you make appts for people FROM THE CONTACT VIEW?

Will this all sync back to Outlook 2003?

If you 'complete' a TO DO on the P900, does it 'COMPLETE' it in Outlook also?

Is it truly a two way sync?

Are there other softwares I will need to purchase to do this better?

Can you get on the internet with it? I like to get onto my corporate email, via the web.

I really think I would like this, but I'm so unsure of dropping $750 and NOT being happy with it.

ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE would be appreciated.

Thanks
Adam

Well, you'll get used to it. It's pretty easy once you worked with it for a day or so

IMO it is... But that is personal

Don't know about that company-name thing

Can you make appts for people FROM THE CONTACT VIEW?
I don't think so

Syncing works for me, but there are people who are having problems with it. Categories aren't synced either.

If you 'complete' a TO DO on the P900, does it 'COMPLETE' it in Outlook also?
Yup, no problem

Is it truly a two way sync?
Yes, except for the categories thing

Are there other softwares I will need to purchase to do this better?
Don't know, I don't think there are any other sync apps for the P900, but not completely sure

Can you get on the internet with it? I like to get onto my corporate email, via the web.
Yes you can. There is a built-in browser, a freeware Opera browser and 2 other browsers where you have to pay for (netfront, webviewer)

Hope this helps you out a bit

Hi,

I' ve been using the p900 for about a month now coming from years of Psion use. The last one was the Revo. The reason I choose p900 was my experience with the Ti68 phone which had excellent battery quality. The same applies to the p900. It is a lithium-polymer battery, which is much better as Li-ion. It is just a very good phone in the first place.

The apps deliverd by SE (Sony Ericsson) are usable, but far from complete. So you have to take in account $50-100 for extra software to get happy. The apps which I have bought extra are: Agendus, SmartDates (I found no contactsmanager which manages birthdates, but SmartDates does this and is compatible with Outlook), QuickWord and QuickSheet (the native SE apps do only view Word and Excel, these ones are able to edit them, although they do conversions from the original format to there own).
There is already quite a lot of software on the market, but development is not as far as with eg. Palm. I have no experience with Pocket pc's, because I prefer Symbian above Windows.

Good luck with your choice.

I appreciate your help and replies.
I only wish I could see Symbian in operation somewhere. So when you say Outlook categories do not sync, has everyone found that to be true?

Any other opinions are welcome... Thanks so much adam

Just a few words from my experience:
If you really want a complete peaceful life without any extra workload (say R&D) and the happiness is the only objective of your life then don't think about it.

If you wanna see the crazy world and wanna go real crazy, this one for you then.
Thanks to Sony.

Good luck!!!!
