Hi,
is it possible 2 connect a 7610 2 ones pc n use da pcs dialup or broadband connection to browse de web ON THE phone? i've heard dat dis works on 7650, 3650 but not 6600. if dis does work on da 7610, how? can someone please give a step by step guide n tell me wot u need (software) 2 make dis possible? also is it possible over bluetooth to connect 2 ur pc and run applications ON da pc from da phone? how can dis be done?
Thank u 😊

It works on the 6600 but the procedure is somwhat difficult.Search the 6600 forum, the procedure might work for the 7610 also.

yeah i did look at it but tell me da procedure for 7610! dats a long forum abt 6600! also ghostdog, can more than one phone connect 2 a pc n share da broadband connection and does da speed depend on how close u r 2 da pc? will it work with every bluetooth port n can it work 2 da range of da bluetooth port like 100m?

It should be the same as for the 6600.

So what should i do?Read it for you? 🙄 Like i said, the procedure is somewhat difficult.Reading those posts will only help you.You can read other peoples success stories and mistakes and learn from it.

Only one device can connect at a time. The speed does depend on the range.Your PC bluetooth adapter might have a range of 100M but the one on your phone has a range of 10-13M so the max range will be 10-13M.

I tried to connect 7610 like a 6600 and never get modem connexion. PC's virtuel modem does not trace any connection try in log. I guess that gnubox commDBregistry hack doesn't work for the 7610 comm database. The 7610' bluettoth serial port is never reached.

Does anyone known how to extract 7610 commDB file? Does anyone can compare it with 6600 one?

Trying to connect... to the real world. 😎

Actually, there is unfortunatelly no "Bluetooth Serial Port" service on 7610. Do you all confirm this ? I guess, if "Bluetooth Dial-up networking" is however available, "Bluetooth Serial Port" is just hidden. So, we really have to discover the real commDB we can administrate to a 7610.

If someone can send me the symbian proggy that can extract commDB file.

Thanks

well im not shure if this can help you .. but if you take a look at the pcprog "oxygen phone manager for symbian phones" there is a client wich seems to allow me to create a bluetooth serial connection. the prog is available for free in trial version which delivers the same client (in a sub dir ) as in the full version.
The client has to be active while serial con. is established. but you can run other tasks as well by pressing the button on the upper right corner of the phone.

so if you succeed with this i would be very greatful if you could tell me what else to do to user pcs internet con.
thx

so have you already tried that out ?
can anybody plz post the link where i can find the topic describing the way how to get the pc internet on the phone ? or even describing it here again?
thx a lot

Damn ... I knew something was missing in "My Bluetooth Places" ...

Woauhouh, Bluetooth is a specific world. Believe me.
So, i just get open a serial com port on 7610 (like 6600 or 7610 is open yet i guess) with a little proggy from S60 SDK. Now, we have to test if gnubox referenced the open serial port as BTCOMM:0 as it is envisaged . I believe i can see that tonight. And after, i guess internet PC connection will work. See you soon.

very good! im looking foreward to read you full guide how to connect the phone ..
plz ad links to the progs we need !
thx !
by the way : You shoud reckon that we are, espacially me very unskilled in things like that .. so plz bear that in mind!

i mean 7650 is already open, not 7610, of course. my fingers are fasters than my eyes ! lol

How far have people got with this? I have got as far as setting everything up but the 7610 simply tries to dial the number i have set in the dial-up number field. Anyone got any further?

I have got my 7610 to connect to the Network Access on my computer and can also connect the Bluetooth Serial Port on my 7610 to my computer by using the RemoteS60 programme. However, I haven't figured out how to get communication going between the two devices yet. I can see data is being sent from my phone, but none is received, and there is data being received on my computer, but none is sent! I've given up on this for a while now as I don't think it's possible to do.

well .. im not shure if i understood you .. but i cannot get a working connection between my 7610 and my pc .. probably because there is no serial port offered by the 7610 .. so how can i open one ?

hhmm and the prog works ( shows you the interface of the 7610 ?)
an what sort of connection are you using ? bluetooth ? and what sort of ? direkt or via com -port ?

ah ok i got it working right now .. but how can i surf in the internet now ?
what properties do i have to set in my browser ?

Thats as far as I've got. I can get a connection, but there is no data transfer both ways on the devices. I'm hoping that someone who knows more can use what i've done to then get the 7610 working to access the internet via a bluetooth connection.

Wouldnt it be the same as surfing the net on any S60 phone. Once you have established the connection, you just need to create a new Access point and make your PC as the default AP. Just leave all settings default.

Try googling for Bluetooth Internet sharing or something and i'm sure you'll find results.

I've already tried the usual Googling for Bluetooth Internet sharing/connection/setup, but I cannot find anything for the 7610. I have found various tutorials and posts about the 6600 and setting it up, which i have tried with my 7610, but I cannot get it to work.

Had windows xp sp1. Didnt have any of the above problems. Had problem with setting up phone on a com port though. Tried using bemused wouldnt work. Recently installed xp sp2 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en and unistalled the original bluetooth drivers. Used drivers that came with windows and was able to set up a com port using windows bluetooth interface. Anyway bemused works now. theres an option which says join personal network , wonder if this might help enable the sharing of internet connection. Hellpppp..

Does WinXP SP2 Bluetooth support make any difference now that it has been released?

Or is it just the it is not possible with the 7610?

I use the Windows XP SP2 Bluetooth drivers (with a Belkin USB Bluetooth dongle, which own - Widcomm based - drivers I deinstalled before installing SP2) & PC Suite 6.2 with a 7610. Quite possible, in other words.
