has anyone else experienced strange behaviour while composing SMS? I was writing a SMS and suddenly the screen went white and went back to the `desktop'. Is this a software problem? If so, is there a way to install upgrades of the operating system?

nope, not seen that one, sounds to me like you hit the menu key by mistake and toggled back to the desktop perhaps?

Yeah, I got the same problem. It happnens when I attempt to change a word (i.e changing "in" to "go"😉 by pressing the * key. Occasionally, the program will be forced to exit ("App. closed mce" message) and I lose my message. VERY annoying problem and I definitely will send the phone back if the shop can't fix it.
Anyone got a solution? (Other than turning off the dictionary. Argh!) Thanks a million.
There was a resolution to this on another forum, may have been on mysymbian forums.
Turned out to be a few models have this depending on what country it was made in.
One guy went back to the store and tried 3 phones and all 3 had it.
Think a firmware flash fixed it in the end.
