May buy 6600...please help

I'm brand new to the Symbian OS; I'm a Palm user currently (Kyocera 7135) and am pretty happy with it for the most part. I don't have any of the issues that others complain about, but I'm thinking about giving the Symbian OS a try since I can't seem to find any acceptable Palm smartphones w/bluetooth. I'm concerned with a comment from Ewen Spence's post "30 Minutes With The Siemens SX-1". Great article, by the way Ewen. In the post, Ewen says " But it's running Symbian OS 6.1, not 7.0s, so the compatibility problems plauging the 6600 don't apply here." Does the 6600 have a lot of compatibility problems? Would it be better to get the SX-1? I'd prefer the 6600 at this point due to the big price difference (US$150.00 for 6600 and US$600.00 for SX-1), but if the SX-1 has significantly fewer compatibility issues, I'd go w/that instead. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Woah!!!! Too much information in 1st post mate, cant be bothered to read it!
However i did get to the third line!!

k, I'll try again. Does the 6600 have the big compatibility problems that Ewan said it does?

Well, there are some compatibility problems with old Series 60 1.x applications but most of the developers out there are updating their builds and it is safe to say that 90% off the applications out there work on the 6600.

Actually, I believe there are more SW compatible with 6600 than SX-1.

One reason why SX-1 is "claimed" to be more stable than 6600 is that it had a year or more to stablise as it is an older OS version.

As of now, the current OS for 6600 (v4.09.1) is pretty stable and there should not be much diff between the two as of now. Some of the threads u read may be related to the previous OS versions.

Series 60 1.x applications don't have problems with Series 60 1.x devices but they do with Series 60 2.0 devices so i don't think you are right.

That is not the OS version, its the firmware version and it hasn't improved much except maybe ETI Camcorder. There are quite a few applications that don't work as the supposed to on the 6600.

I was also a long-time Palm OS user, and just switched to the 6600 from my Samsung i500, and I'm very pleased with my 6600 so far. I haven't had any software compatibility issues yet, although I do miss a few things from the Palm's smartphone interface, like multiple speed dial pages and much better contact management, like sorting contacts by company, but hopefully someone will come up with a program to fill those gaps.
