I have the s60 Bible on my 6600, but I can't seem to get any Bible text loaded. I have been to the web pages but they fail to geve me a simple file to install. I am a newbie to symbian and really need this.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
i have the same reader but havent tried installing a bible yet. Im pretty sure you just need the actual bible file on your phone somewhere and the reader will find it for you. The bibles dont need any specific .sis file or .exe or whatever they are just a straight out file.
I really want either NIV or New living Translation but i cant find em anywhere, have you found any??
You can grab free bibles from a lot of places. The New Living Ones are available from a few vendors (I think tyndale is the publisher) mostly in .lit and secure adobe. I saw a link to ereader, so I'm assuming there's a palm/ereader version. Haven't seen mobipocket (which would work). Basically, if you want to pay for it you could buy a secure version then depending on your location in the world and the rights management get an unencrypted version and convert it for your machine.
do you know if you can buy niv ones??
I would buy it if i could find one

the tniv stuff is on http://www.tniv.info/bible/index.php you can get .lit and palm and the new testament in adobe pdf is available for free.
If you own it you can probably find the 'symbian convertable version' labeled as:
"Bible - New International Version NIV.zip", but it's 6M uncompressed all seperate text files for the (ex: Book of <insert name> 1.txt, Book of <same name> 2.txt) 1.77M compressed.
I use fictionwise for general books (good deals), but if you want to see decent links to Bible info check out:
http://bible.gospelcom.net/
click on the languages, scroll down to..well we're typing english (uskagbaunzsa) or something like that....and you'll see all the translations.
Let me know what you buy if you buy something.
There is actually an eBible.sis out there. I have it in my computer. Just that it's not NIV. I too looking for NIV.
That's NKJV version I have.
What exactly do you want in the way of access to NIV on your phone. I know you can get it in different formats so you can get the individual text files depending on your local and licensing. I can see a big doc w/ different selectable chapters and search being an easy option w/ something like mobipocket (publisher and reader), but what else. Is there a specific file format that you need NIV in to use your prefered reader software w/? If so please let me see a link to it.
N/M I got it sorted.
But...just let me get this straight. I'm not making any statements about anyone's beliefs or in anyway preaching the supremacy of one faith or interpretation over another so if I inadvertantly offend anyone I apologize in advance as that is not my intention.
Would you really rather read a book that states:
11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
Or....the one that states:
1:11. And he said: let the earth bring forth green herb, and such as
may seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, which may
have seed in itself upon the earth. And it was so done.
1:12. And the earth brought forth the green herb, and such as yieldeth
seed according to its kind, and the tree that beareth fruit, having
seed each one according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Just cause I kinda like the green herb part better.
I have the same problem, however I may have a partial, if not complete solution... I have recently migrated from Treo270 to Nokia 6600 - On the treo I had created a Plucker file of the NIV, that's fuilly working and searchable. Trouble is, this is now in trhee seperate files, all of which are palm pdb format.
Two solutions :
A - convert palm pdb to a format that Nokia 6600 can read.
B - Use Mobipocket own channel creator and point it to a locally ripped NIV site. I still have all the original html files of NIV.
Would / could this work, and does anybody want to try it???
PF.

Yes, it would work. I have it in all seperate files so it's easier to ebible, but you can use things like abiword or pyrite publisher to unpdb the files, then your favorite editor (I use bbedit) to add the code for bible creation and then just run the bible creator software on the file. Or, you just take the text files abiword or pyrite put out, join them, and send them in as a single pdb (readm) or mobifile (still not happy w/ that product).
