Alternative Nokia 9210 Userguide Project

9 replies · 3,168 views · Started 24 November 2001

As semi-announced in another thread I am planning an alternative Nokia 9210 Userguide.

It is not intended as a replacement but rather an addition to the existing one. As such it wont cover everything, but rather either things not present, not explained well or not emphasised enoguh.

It will probably take the form of an HTML file(s) for downloading, and a .hlp file for installing onto the 9210.

What I need from you is
a) Is this a ood idea? Interested?
b) What should be in it (specify questions / asners/ tutorials/ todos etc.

and of course any help is welcome.. Guest contributions etc.. or maybe a collaborative project from the community?

I did intially think about having voluntary contributions (money) for using it, but dont think this is going to work.

Hi,

I agree with you, Rafe. I think its a good idea.
Perhaps you could make it as a SIS file. 5 User posted image
Ill buy it! User posted image

Regards!

Excellent idea (I might wait for some more time before I throw my 9210 away as I was planning to..).
I should contain those technical details which the normal user doesn't know. Where are the proragmme files initially (card or disk), What should be done, what should not be done, what to do if... (here you have a lot more experience than Nokia), suggestions to organise it better and avoid "crashes".. amog others

Rafe,

The idea? Excellent, VERY needed, etc!

The form? Questions & detailed answers.

File format? HTML is OK, not good to veiw on the short of mem 9210, but portable enough for the PC also.

The price? FREE, if u want it to be popular, and helpful.

I don't know much about 9210, yet, but I can help with the questions. Plus, I can help with the trivial questions User posted image

This is a MeToo.

Good idea. Mostly technical information, filelocations, easter eggs (are there any), hidden features. And what I personally would VERY much appreciate is a list of known (or at least reported) bugs per firmware version.

And of course the answer to the question 'why, oh why can we not simply upgrade our little Nokia ourselves but do we need to send it away to a dark place where they do bad things with it for a VERY LONG time?".

As to the cost it probably won't work with a textfile, but 5 would be a nice price.

Bye!

Good plan, would like it.

Format HTML is probably the most platform independant you could be (I could even read it on my freaking Atari ST then User posted image)

Cost Put some nude girlie pics in and charge $5 a time to the yanks (there's plenty that'll pay it User posted image) Seriously though GPL is the don

Considering Nokia's often disgraceful attitude and lack of interest in its customers' real issues, you're idea can only do quite a handful of 92Comm users a world of good. Don't really mind paying a small fee if this solution is avaialble as an .sis file.. US$5-8 would be reasonable I think..

I've decided to definetely go ahead with this project and I liked to ask once more what people would like in it. In a couple of days I'l publish my first contents list and invite suggestions and additions.
