WAV Ringtones - Best way to make them?

Hi all, i have some mp3s and i want to make them into wav for ringtones (for my n-gage QD). I want to be able to chop only a part of it and convert it into a WAV which will sound the best on the QD. I tried using "cool edit" but the sound quility wasnt very good, does anyone have a guide with specific settings?

I use dBpoweramp to convert the mp3 file i want to a wav file of 32kbps and 16khz, that's the optimal quality for the minimum size, if u're willing to accept lower quality u can go lower, anything higher u probably won't notice the difference but the filesize's much larger. I wouldn't recommend using a heavy bass song with those settings tho, coz i tried making 50 Cents' In Da Club and another techno/dance song as my ringtone, sounded quite bad with those settings coz it can't take the bass, so if u want heavy bass songs u'll have to figure out the settings... sorry :/ but the settings i gave u'll work for most mainstream pop, rock, jazz and classical stuff 😊
I'm switching between Suede's good old classic "The Beautiful Ones" and Outkast's "Hey Ya" depending on my mood 😃
