Got the 6600 with orange UK
if i have other numbers assigned to a contract if one of those numbers rings it dispalys the number and not the name. It only displays the name if it is the default contact.
Also all text messages just show the number and not the caller display name form my address book.
Any body any ideas.

Yeah, Dont buy an Orange 6600 (loads of problems)
Get the phone re flashed with the latest 'standard' firmware.

This happens when you have the same contact stored twice in memory.
You may have same number and contact stored in 2 locations, either sim or handset. Solution is to delete any duplicate entries.
The previous poster knows nothing about the Orange 6600, as I have a new replacement from Orange UK that has the latest 4.09.1 firmware. This is actually my 4th replacement due to various faults that I have had.
This one with the new firmware seems much quicker, and after an intial problem with the Voice commands which I resolved myself, it is now working very well, but I still get the 'App Main closed' message which seems normal on all 6600's.
To resolve the text problem you have to store all of your contacts in international format. Eg. 0797 is +44797 Make sure you put the + in (* key twice). If you have numbers in caller groups there isn't any way to make sure name appears except for making sure you don't have the number stored on both the sim card and the phone itself.
That's what i do and it works for me.
yeah i had to go through my phone book and change all the numbers to +44, a bit of a pain but only a minor issue really!

Do you mean me?
If so,i beg to differ as you only have to type the words "orange" into the search here and see how many problems there are against the generic firmware,and "ok" they may have sorted out a few of the earlier problems with the latest version but as you said yourself you had a problem at the beginning with the latest.
I know of 8 other people who have 6600s and 6 of them are on orange and have had nearly all of the problems regularly talked about here.
I have had the original V 3.42.1 generic firmware for 10 months now with no
problems at all and never formatted (read all the posts about wether or not its worth upgrading!).
