I have just loaded 2 films onto my 6600 one in .rm, for use in realplayer, the other is a smartmovie conversion (using the xvid codec).
I've got to say that although the smartmovie film plays in landscape, therefore giving you a larger picture, the quality of the picture and the sound on the realplayer film was much, much better.
The sound quality on the smartmovie conversion was not very good and halting (only for a millisecond but bloddy annoying).
I would much prefer to use smartmovie because of the larger picture and the seek facility. I am using the demo version at the minute, is this making a difference??
Has anybody got any tips on how smartmovie should be configured to give the best picture and sound quality. Just for info I am using gordian knot to convert .vobs to .avi once this has been done I'm then running the .avi through smartmovie.
Any help would be appriciated.

Hi , bro
I m using smart movie converter at this time with setting
128 bitrate, 16000 Hz frequency, lame MP3 codec with 250% boots volume... and the output is quite good aft play with my N7610...
But in between playing smart movie file , word " DEMO" appear on top of the screen ..... which i dun know how to remove during converting file.
Anybody know how to solve this problem ? pls help ....

This is because your using just the "demo" version of the software, you would need to purchase the full package.
For me pv Player is the best for movie viewing.

Any idea where I can find it.
Also can you play films in landscape and seek through the film?
Does it use the xvid codec?
madmark90,you can find PvPlayer on www.pv.com but both RealPlayer and SmartMovie outperform it by far.My choice is SmartMovie.128kbps video xvid codec and 22Khz 24kpbs audio.

Cheers Ghost Dog, I'll give those settings a go, my only complaint about smartmovie so far is the sound quality, if I could improve that then I will definatly purchase the full version.
Once again many thanks
Hi people, im new here and new to symbian.
I have several Questions
1. How do I transfer files to my 7610?
The app installer doesnt see the videos that i have converted via smart movie.
I have put the player and the codec in the phone already.
How did you transfer movies onto your phone?
I use smartmovie for the past few months and it works great.I even converted whole movies from my Video CD's .DAT files and it works great. I love this smart movie software on my Siemens SX1. I bought smartmovie and it works great but offcourse same as demo. Yes, there are ways to set video and audio quality to fine tune.
I would need your help now on Gordian knot. Please tell me from which site you downloaded it and was it for free? How easy it is to use? Can I simply take the .vobs file and convert it to standard .avi file? The idea sounds great!! I would love to have this software. Please reply to my e-mail
THANKS

No warez, read the rules.
I use Smartmovie to convert avi files to transfer to Nokia 6600. The configuration is "Xvid Encoder". After finishing this file, the Smartmovie in my mobile can't play this file. It shows "no codec for video format DIV3". I have already install Xvid Codec from www.lonelycatgames.com . Who can help me? Where can I get DIV3 codec for Nokia 6600? Thanks
sorry i diddnt know my bad.............. about the synching if n e one wants to know.....i found that the larger i made the file the more likely the video would lose synch with the sound (large movie files alos means bad frame rates, cos the quality is too high) u can sort the sound out by using that delay sound option ...in the option menu, u can either make the sound have a slight delay after the video...or make the sound come b4 the video which ever way sorts the synching out, but im sure u all knew that
Using smartmovie with my Moto A1000 and it works fine 😊 . Settings used are -
Xvid encoder
bitrate192
16000hz
lame mp3
Just got 256 transflash from totallymobile.co.uk so should be able to get a couple of movies onto phone.
Have fun
IVe always found converting to RM gives the smallest sie file at the best quality. SmartVideos only advantage was the full screen video a restriction which has been eliminated on the 6630
I've just talked to SmartMovie webmaster about best settings for converstion
and he said XviD codec with 128 bitrate for video and 16000 khz with 24 bitrate is recommended.
about demo word appearing on your movies, you have to register the app on your phone, and it gives you some unlock code to make the convertor full version.
about converting other video formats like VOB or MPEG2 you may use MainConcept MPEG Encoder
it works so fine about video files and even audio files !
good luck
