Backup problems using PC Suite

Hi all,
Orange heve sent me a replacement handset, no a problem I hear you say... oh yes it is, the bloody thing won't restore or back up! it connects to the sofware ok, I get all the other applications but when I go to do a restore (to get all my numbers and s**t back) the phone crashes giving me this error maessage

need help on this ppl I gota have me numbers back, its the only record I got! as the back up service i used with the orange software tells me I have no files on their service (complete crap!)

Try this. Make a new backup of the new handset. Then copy the old backup files over the new backup files. Restart PC Suite. Attempt restore now.

Backup using PC Suite is not a good idea... It doesn't work!
I think I'll try using plaintext vCards and transfering them to my PC...
There are some apps that do this...

It has worked for me (including restore) for a number of different phones.
