Here we go for my weekly bluetooth connection problems. Trying to use PCSuite to synch my 6600 with Outlook, which usually works, but now it's not. I can't seem to get the phone and PC to connect via bluetooth. Like most others, I get the error message that the serial port connection failed, then it usually connects anyway. Now it won't connect at all, and I haven't done anything different.
So, here's the question for the day...when I'm in the Bluetooth Configuration window on my laptop, under the Local Services and Client Application tabs, should I have the serial port configured under both? It won't let me use the same serial port under both, but do I need a serial port under each one? I know I'm missing something obvious here, and I haven't been able to find the solution by searching the forum.
BTW, I have a new Dell Latitude with built-in bluetooth, running XP Pro.

Try selecting/deselecting the COM ports in mRouter, most likely, more then once.

I have it configured under both.COM3 for Client Apllications,COM4 for Local Services.

Thanks GhostDog, but no go. I've tried that many times. The COM ports that usually work are 5 and 8. I can't get 3 and 4. This is driving me crazy.
are you able to get a quick connect of a bt serial port to the phone from your machine before you try this?

Nope. When I try the quick serial connect, I get "Error creating 'Bluetooth Serial Port' connection with device".
I wish I knew why it's been working for the past week, and now, for no reason, it stopped.
Anything new installed on PC?? If yes try uninstalling or doing a restore to an earlier date (last week maybe).
Could also try unpairing and then pair devices again.
ITS A PAIN I KNOW!!!!!!!!!
Jools, thanks for the response, but nothing new added, and I've un-paired and re-paired over and over again. Focusing so much on BT, I totally ignored IR synching, which I've done successfully and very easily. Even though I'd rather use BT, until they fix this problem with a patch or something, I guess I'll stick with IR, and just use BT for my headset (Jabra 250).
