I was wondering if anybody knows; Will the US QD come with a "dummy" SIM card, so that the QD can be powered on and accessed without telephone service activation?
I pre-ordered mine, and cant wait till July 27th gets here. Anybody else USA-based pre-ordered theirs, or have one now?
hmm, what i heard was that unlike th N-Gage, the QD will be sold mainly with service activation. So I figuer they will come with REAL sim cards that you are expected to activate.
The phone won't come with a "dummy" SIM, but any inactive/old/expired SIM card is also enough to turn to the phone on, if you don't wish to activate a subscription and use a "live" SIM.
I emailed the Nokia tech support site and asked them. They say the QD sold in retail stores will come with a dummy SIM card, and Im assuming the device will be unlocked, whereas the QD sold at cellular stores will come with a SIM that requires service activation, and will be locked.

The Qds we sell in the UK, all come with dummy sims
Got it last night and the dummy SIM is in the package (Dallas, TX area). FYI: The dummy SIM works in other GSM phones, not just the N-Gage.
BTW: If anyone in the U.S. has a dummy SIM they don't need please send it to us. We have a number of phones that we develop for that won't turn on without a SIM, even though we're not actually using the phone portion (it's just for on-device software testing). My QD didn't come with a dummy SIM. Maybe it's because I bought it from a cell phone store...

Comes on an Ngage branded card. SIM is black, with gold chip.
