I am getting "not acceptable" error messages when attempting to get to many WAP sites.
The main one I am getting it with is http://wap.google.com (even if I put /wml on the end). It used to work fine prior to Sep 2003. I have not been able to get into google since that time.
I was willing to live with this only applying to google - but now it is happening to http://wap.cnet.com and with the wap based HTML viewers. And some sites (like yahoo) get it deeper down in only some applications now.
The only site where I have broad working capabilities is with http://wap.yahoo.com and even here there are issues with some menu options!
I am using a Nokia 9290 Communicator (firmware ver 5.07) with T-mobile. My machine is configured correctly and I have the right gateway configured. The number is +19132440821, the gateway is 10.168.200.50 I actually have two 9290s (one for the wife) and I get identical results with both.
I have been able to get multiple reps at Nokia to duplicate the problem (they use T-mobile and use the same gateway)- but they are clueless as to what it may be.
Nokia was able to get to google via WAP with a Nokia 6800, so it appears it is something with the 9290...
Are some sites upgrading to a newer WAP protocol or packet size or something that is incompatible with the 9290? I was hoping to see a software patch or something from Nokia but it looks like we are stuck at version 5.07.
Can some of you test this for me?
Are others out there having this issue too?
ANY IDEAS ANYONE?
My HTML works - but is WAY TO S-L-O-W, I want to use WAP.
Thanks in advance,
Lane
